(Anaheim, CA) — The Los Angeles Angels rattled off 17 hits during a 12-2 win over the Minnesota Twins last night at Angel Stadium. The Angels scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and led the rest of the way. Chris Taylor had a home run and four R-B-I in the victory, and Yoan Moncada YO-on moan-KAH-duh) also went deep. Kyle Hendricks tossed seven shutout innings en route to his seventh win. The Angels have won two of three. Minnesota’s Ryan Fitzgerald homered in the losing effort, while Zebby Matthews was charged with his fifth loss after surrendering five runs on seven hits in four-and-two-thirds innings. The Twins have dropped seven of nine. Game three of the three-game set is today in Anaheim at 3:07 P-M.

(St. Paul, MN) — The Triple-A St. Paul Saints had just three hits during a 2-1 loss to the Columbus Clippers at C-H-S Field. Patrick Winkel drove in St. Paul’s only run, while Andrew Morris was charged with his fifth loss after allowing a pair of unearned runs on three hits in six innings. The 58-79 Saints have dropped ten consecutive games and will send John Klein to the mound against Columbus tonight in downtown St. Paul.

(Indianapolis, IN) — The Minnesota Lynx lost at Indiana last night 83-72 to dip to 33-10 on the season. The Lynx rested star player Napheesa Collier, so relied on others to produce. Center Jessica Shepard led the way with 16 points and seven rebounds on a night when the Lynx shot just ten-percent from three-point range. Head coach Cheryl Reeve says when the shots aren’t falling her team usually picks up its game in other areas and that didn’t happen last night. Kelsey Mitchell paced the Fever with 18 points. Indiana improved to 24-20 on the year. Minnesota will close out the regular season tomorrow night at home against Golden State at 7 P-M at the Target Center. The Lynx have already locked up the number-one overall seed in the postseason.

(Eagan, MN) — The Minensota Vikings will have an afternoon walk-through at team headquarters in Eagan this afternoon after an off day yesterday. The Purple beat the Bears in Chicago in Monday Night Football, rallying for a 27-24 victory. Head coach Kevin O’Connell says he believed the win to be a culture win and was proud of his team for not giving up. Minnesota will host Atlanta on Sunday Night Football at U-S Bank Stadium at 7:20 P-M. The 0-1 Falcons lost at home to Tampa Bay on Sunday 23-20.

(Green Bay, WI) — The Green Ba Packers are in wait-and-see mode with a pair of offensive lineman. Green Bay coach Matt LaFleur told reporters that Aaron Banks Jr. and Zach Tom will be game-time decisions for Thursday’s matchup with the Commanders. Both players were hurt in Sunday’s season-opening win over the Lions.

(Lake Forest, IL) — The Chicago Bears will spend the rest of the week gearing up for their Week Two match-up. The Bears visit the Detroit Lions at Ford Field on Sunday. Chicago is off to an 0-1 start after losing to the Minnesota Vikings 27-24 in Week One. This Sunday’s contest kicks off at noon. Meanwhile, the Lions are adding some talent to their practice squad. (San Francisco, CA) — The San Francisco 49ers are placing superstar tight end George Kittle on injured reserve. Multiple sources report Kittle will miss at least four games. San Francisco will play those games over the next 23 days, including Thursday Night Football in Week Five against the Los Angeles Rams. Kittle hurt his hamstring during the team’s season opener against the Seattle Seahawks. He finished the game with four receptions for 25 yards and a touchdown. In other team news, the 49ers waived kicker Jake Moody.

(Minneapolis, MN) — Golden Gopher head football coach P-J Fleck has his players practicing tonight to simulate the late start time of this Saturday’s game at California. Fleck says he has consulted with the school’s sleep experts and is doing what he can to best get his team ready to play two time zones away at a late hour. Fleck says they are trying to stay in Minnesota as long as they can and make the trip to Cal itself as short as they can. A Friday afternoon charter flight will help with that goal. Fleck says there are no guarantees that the extra preparation will give them a win, but he says he wants to take as much data as he can and get his team adjusted the best it can. Fleck says even the team flight out west will be handled with specific instructions on players getting rest and staying awake. Saturday’s kick off is 9:30 P-M, Minnesota time, which is part of why the team is going to efforts to get the players as ready to play late at night as possible. Both teams are 2-0 on the season after wins last Saturday.

Winona State senior defensive lineman Connor Haggerty of Onalaska, Wisconsin is the N-S-I-C Football Defensive Player of the Week after registering seven tackles and two forced fumbles in a victory over Bemidji State. Minnesota-Duluth sophomore kick returner Jonathan Shrum of Farmington is the N-S-I-C Football Special Teams Player of the Week after returning the opening kick for a touchdown in a win over Concordia-St. Paul. St. Scholastica sophomore running back Jevon Williams of Willmar is the MIAC (MY-ack) Football Offensive Player of the Week after compiling 227 rushing yards in a win over Wisconsin Lutheran. His senior teammate Ian Strusz of Albertville is the league’s Defensive Player of the Week after intercepting three passes in the win. St. Olaf sophomore kicker Ethan Hess of Marshall is the MIAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week after hitting three field goals and three extra points in a victory over Northwestern (MN).

(Undated) — The Bulls are inking one of their starting five to a long-term contract. Chicago and restricted free agent Josh Giddey have reached an agreement on a four-year, 100-million-dollar contract to re-sign with the Bulls. The deal is fully guaranteed and has no player or team options. The 22-year-old scored 14.6 points per game while also recording career-highs in rebounds, assists, steals and three-point field goal percentage. He also posted seven triple-doubles in his first season with the team after being acquired in a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder during the 2024 offseason.
