(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Twins won the rubber match of their three-game series against the Houston Astros with a 4-1 victory at Target Field yesterday. The game was tied at one before Ryan Kreidler (KRYDE-ler) hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. Joe Ryan earned his third win after striking out nine and allowing one run on four hits in six innings, while Victor Caratini also went deep. Rookie Andrew Morris notched his first big league save with a scoreless ninth. The Twins are in third place in the A-L Central at 23–27. They are off tonight and will visit the Red Sox tomorrow night.

(St. Paul, MN) — The Triple-A St. Paul Saints scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth during a 14-4 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers at CHS Field. Kyler Fedko went four-for-five with two home runs and four R-B-I, while Aaron Sabato and David Banuelos also went deep. The 24-22 Saints send John Klein to the mound against Omaha tonight at 6:37 in St. Paul.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Lynx look to get back in the win column when they host the W-N-B-A expansion team Toronto Tempo at the Target Center tonight. The Lynx are coming off an 86-79 home loss to the Chicago Sky on Sunday. The Lynx are 2-2 to start the season, and they’re still searching for their first home victory. Toronto is 3-2 so far this year. Tonight’s game tips off at 7 P-M in downtown Minneapolis.

(Minneapolis, MN) — Veteran Minnesota Timberwolves guard Mike Conley is a pending free agent and has hinted he’d like to play another season in the N-B-A. He says he hasn’t been a free agent in a while and will look at all of his options. He says he’d welcome a chance to return to Minnesota, but if that isn’t in the cards, he will look at other options. Conley says he thinks his experience can be a benefit to a contending team that could use a veteran in the postseason. Conley did not have a huge role during the regular season with the Wolves, but did have a major impact during the playoffs. Conley is 38 years old.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander sunk 30 points to push his squad past the San Antonio Spurs 122-113 from Oklahoma City. The best-of-seven series shifts to San Antonio for Game Three on Friday. Meanwhile, the Eastern Conference Finals make a return tonight. The Knicks will try to go up 2-0 against the Cavaliers from Madison Square Garden after the team stunned Cleveland with a more than 20-point comeback win in Game One.

(Eagan, MN) — The Minnesota Vikings are closing in on their next general manager. The N-F-L Network is reporting that the Vikings have five in-person interviews scheduled for next week. Interim GM Rob Brzezinski is still being considered for the position, as are Reed Burckhardt, Terrance Gray, John McKay, and Nolan Teasley. The Purple had been conducting initial interviews with candidates virtually over the last two weeks.

(Pittsburgh, PA) — Aaron Rodgers is set to retire after this N-F-L season. The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback told reporters Wednesday that this year will be his last. Rodgers has flirted with retirement the past few offseasons, and his final season will be his second with the Steelers. The longtime QB was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 2005 and played there for 18 seasons, winning the Super Bowl in the 2010 season. Rodgers played for the New York Jets for two seasons before heading to Pittsburgh.

The Vegas Golden Knights opened up the Western Conference Final with a 4-2 road victory over the Colorado Avalanche in Denver. Carter Hart stepped up in net with 36 saves while Dylan Coghlan, Pavel Dorofeyev, Nic Dowd and Brett Howden each lit the lamp. Vegas now leads the best-of-seven series 1-0. The Eastern Conference Final begins tonight with the Carolina Hurricanes playing host to the Montreal Canadiens in Raleigh.

(McKinney, TX) — Scottie Scheffler will be looking to defend his crown at the P-G-A Tour’s C-J CUP Byron Nelson from T-P-C Craig Ranch in Texas. The 29-year-old will be alongside Brooks Koepka and Si Woo Kim for the first and second rounds. Emilliano Grillo, S.Y. Noh and Doug Ghim will be among the first group of players teeing off round one. Spring Lake Park graduate Troy Merritt, former Gopher golfer Erik van Rooyen, and Fargo’s Tom Hoge are in the field.
