This comes after another legislative session where state lawmakers could not increase revenue by passing a sports betting bill. Canterbury Park’s Jeff Maday said, “This is an important season just because of what went on at the legislature. There were some high hopes that something would get done and nothing did this session. But I can tell you this. The people that are here, the trainers, and the jockeys and owners that I’ve spoken with they’re optimistic.” Canterbury’s racing season lasts until September 19.
