>>Twins Take Two Of Three From Redbirds After Sunday Victory
(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Twins took two of three games from the St. Louis Cardinals with yesterday’s 5-4 win at Target Field in Minneapolis. Pinch-hitter Ryan Kriedler (KRYDE-ler) delivered a two-out double in the eighth inning to put the Twins up for good. Kriedler also made a stellar defensive play at shortstop to start the top of the ninth inning. Minnesota got six six-and-two-thirds innings of five-hit, four-run ball from Taj Bradley. The right-hander struck out seven and walked two. Andrew Morris earned the win in relief to improve to 2-2 this season. Victor Cartini belted his fourth homer of the year to help the Minnesota cause. Byron Buxton had a three-hit day, including a double. The 33-40 Twins remain in third place in the A-L Central, while the 38-31 Cardinals are in second place in the N-L Central. Minnesota visits Texas tonight for a 7:05 P-M game.

(Toledo, OH) — The Triple-A St. Paul Saints rattled off 17 hits during a 14-10 win over the Toledo Mud Hens at Fifth Third Field. Noah Cardenas and Graham Brown both homered in the victory, while Ricky Castro picked up his second win in relief. The 39-and-29 Saints are off tonight and will host Omaha tomorrow in St. Paul to start a six-game series at C-H-S Field.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The 2026 Minnesota High School State Baseball Championships will be decided today at Target Field. Red Lake County returns to the Class A championship game to defend its 2025 crown. Mahtomedi will try to repeat as Class 3-A champions with a title game appearance this afternoon. The 10-3 Lynx share the league’s best record with the defending champion Aces, who beat Minnesota 100-97 over the weekend. The Lynx continue to play without star player Napheesa Collier and center Dorka Juhasz (yoo-hahs). Minnesota rookie point guard Olivia Miles continues to shine after a career-high 29 points in Saturday’s loss. The visiting Tempo enter tonight’s game with a 7-8 record after an 84-83 win on Saturday over the Dallas Wings. That victory halted a four-game skid. (Eagan, MN) — Nolan Teasley is rounding out the Minnesota Vikings front office. The Purple’s new general manager hired a pair of assistant G-M’s on Friday. Andrew Healy and Trent Kirchner were both hired by the team. Healy comes over from the research department of the Cleveland Browns, while Kirchner was Seattle’s vice president of player personnel last year. Kirchner is a Minnesota native.

(Eagan, MN) — The Minnesota Vikings return to T-C-O Performance Center today for the final week of voluntary Organized Team Activities. The Vikes completed a three-day mandatory minicamp last week, which followed two weeks of O-T-A’s. The headlining story remains the quarterback battle between incumbent J-J McCarthy and offseason acquisition Kyler Murray. Minnesota has had a high percentage of players participate in the O-T-As. This week’s workouts run today through Thursday.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The University of Minnesota football team begins its second week of offseason workouts this week on campus. The Golden Gophers are allowed a limited number of hours to work with the coaching staff each week in mostly individual drills. Players also hold their own practices and get a lot of strength and conditioning work throughout the summer. Minnesota starting quarterback Drake Lindsey says he is working on continued improvement in leadership this summer, as well as getting aligned with offensive coordinator Greg Harbaugh (HAR-bo). Lindsey says he and Harbaugh have taken their understanding of the offense to a new level. Minnesota finished last season with an 8-5 record and will open the 2026 season with a Thursday night home game against Eastern Illinois on September 3rd.

(Las Vegas, NV) — The Carolina Hurricanes are Stanley Cup champions. Carolina defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 3-0 in Game Six to win the series 4-2. It is the franchise’s first Stanley Cup title since 2006. Rod Brind’Amour becomes the first person in N-H-L history to win the Stanley Cup as a team’s captain and head coach. Three Minnesotans were on the winning team, including former Gopher star Mike Reilly, who grew up in Chanhassen. In addition, Jackson Blake, who was born in Fargo but grew up in Eden Prairie, was on the winning team. He played two seasons of college hockey at North Dakota. St. Paul native K’Andre Miller, who played college hockey at Wisconsin, is also celebrating.

(Caledon, ON) — Bud Cauley has captured his first career Tour victory after finishing atop the leaderboard at the P-G-A Tour’s R-B-C Canadian Open from T-P-C Toronto. Cauley won the tournament by two strokes with a score of 17 under par. Matt Fitzpatrick finished in second place at 15 under. Viktor Hovland was third at 14 under par. Jimmy Stanger, Brice Garnett, Jesper Svensson and Jackson Suber were tied for fourth at 13 under. Former Gopher golfer Erik van Rooyen finished 20th at nine-under, while Fargo’s Tom Hoge did not make the cut.

(Long Pond, PA) — Denny Hamlin is on fire. The driver of the number-11 car took home the checkered flag in the Great American Getaway 400 from Pocono Raceway. Hamlin held off Tyler Reddick for his third NASCAR Cup Series victory in a row. William Byron, John Nemechek, and Kyle Larson rounded out the top-five finishers. The field heads to Naval Base Coronado in San Diego next Sunday for the Anduril 250.

There were four matches across North America on Sunday, which included eight nations seeing their first action of the tournament. Germany crushed Curaçao 7-1 at N-R-G Stadium in Houston; Japan and the Netherlands played to a 2-2 draw at AT&T Stadium in Arlington; Ivory Coast defeated Ecuador 1-0 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia; and Sweden took down Tunisia 5-1 in Guadeloupe, Mexico. The action continues with four more matches on Monday. Spain takes on Cape Verde, Belgium challenges Egypt, Saudi Arabia battles Uruguay, and Iran faces off against New Zealand.
