The 48-49 Twins are three games out of first place in the American League Central Division after Sunday’s 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels. (Minneapolis) – The Minnesota Twins have announced their preliminary schedule for the 2027 season. Minnesota will open the year March 25th on the road against the Kansas City Royals, marking the club’s earliest Opening Day ever for a third straight season. The Twins’ home opener is set for April 2nd against the Tampa Bay Rays at Target Field. Under Major League Baseball’s balanced schedule, the Twins will face all 29 other teams, including interleague matchups with the Cubs, Mets, Padres and Brewers. The regular season wraps up at home against San Francisco and Detroit next September.

(Las Vegas, NV) — The Minnesota Timberwolves N-B-A Summer League team wraps up its stay in Las Vegas with a consolation game tonight against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Wolves went 2-2 in their four-game pool play round, which was not good enough to get into the Summer League Playoff round. The Wolves have been led by Zyon Pullin, who is averaging nearly 22-points per game during the Summer League. He says he is feeling comfortable with the team. (Blaine, MN) – One of the largest soccer tournaments in the world is now on hold because of the hazardous air quality in Minnesota. Officials with the Target U-S-A Soccer Tournament in Blaine have suspended all matches scheduled for today because of dangerous air quality in the Twin Cities due to the wildfires in northern Minnesota. Officials say the reason was for the safety of the players, referees, and fans. The tournament says teams will be notified when the games will resume. Indoor activities are still scheduled but with modified times. Teams from 14 countries and 25 states are in Blaine for the tournament.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The University of Minnesota football team is now less than two months away from opening the season. The Golden Gophers are working out on campus this summer, and senior wide receiver Javon (juh-VON) Tracy of Indianapolis says this is a key time of year for team and personal growth. He says he is working on using his strength to get open to catch passes better this summer. Tracy caught 37 passes for 354 yards and six touchdowns last season for Minnesota. The Gophers finished 8-5 last season, including a bowl game victory over New Mexico in Phoenix. Minnesota opens the regular season at home against Eastern Illinois on Thursday, September 3rd.

Daniel Brown and Sungjae Im are tied for second at four under par. Several others, including Bryson DeChambeau, are tied for fourth at three under. John Parry, Tiger Christensen and Eric Cole will be among the first group of players teeing off round two.

(Undated) – The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is asking for the public’s help designing a new state parks and trails license plate. The theme for this plate is the North Shore and the Lake Superior agate—the state gemstone. Design submissions will be accepted online from September 15th through October 31st, with public voting planned for December. The winning design will be announced later that month, and the new plate is expected to be available in January of 2027. Proceeds from plate sales support Minnesota’s state parks and trails.
