The Twins improved to 61-65 and are five games out of first place in the A-L Central. Minnesota had dropped three straight and will continue its three-game set tonight. (Eagan, MN) — The Minnesota Vikings have officially lost safety Jamal Adams for the season, but he will still be part of the team. Head coach Kevin O’Connell said yesterday that Adams’ presence will be welcomed at the facility following surgery to repair a torn quad tendon. Minnesota has placed Adams on injured reserve and signed cornerback Bryce Phillips to fill his spot on the roster. In addition, the team signed linebacker Kenny Dyson and waived linebacker Arden Walker. The team is off today and will resume training camp practice tomorrow in Eagan. The Vikes will host the Baltimore Ravens for two days of joint practices this week before hosting them for a preseason game on Saturday at noon.

(Green Bay, WI) — The next preseason game on the schedule for the Green Bay Packers is Friday night at Denver. Two of Green Bay’s preliminary games are on the road this year. The Packers and Broncos last met in the preseason in 2024. After the game in Denver, Green Bay wraps up the preseason at home August 28th against the Arizona Cardinals.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The University of Minnesota football team is now just more than two weeks away from opening the season against Eastern Illinois on Thursday, September 3rd in Minneapolis. The Golden Gophers continue fall camp on campus, and veteran receiver Javon (juh-VON) Tracy says they are learning every day. Tracy says one of his strengths he is passing on to the younger pass catchers is learning all three receiver positions. He says that versatility will help them be a better offense and a better team. The Golden Gophers are hoping to build on last year’s 8-5 record. Here is the 2026 Golden Gopher football schedule:

(Walker, MN) – The top college bass fishermen in the country are in Walker this week to tackle Leech Lake for a college championship. The 2026 Strike King Bassmaster College Championship will be held August 20-22. Teams from across the country qualified during a series of fishing tournaments held in the spring. The top anglers will compete for a $250,000 prize package that includes a new truck and boat for their school. Two teams will move on to the College Classic Cup.

(Ely, MN) — All wildfire evacuation orders in St. Louis and Lake counties have been lifted as crews continue making progress on fires in northeastern Minnesota. More than 1,600 Boundary Waters campsites are now open, restoring access to about 73% of the wilderness. The Camp Fire is 97% contained, while the Sioux Fire is 55% contained. The July Lightning fires have burned more than 66,000 acres. Drivers should still expect major delays along the Echo Trail as cleanup and fuel-reduction work continues.
