(Los Angeles, CA) — The Los Angeles Dodgers put an end to a three-game losing streak with a 5-2 win over the Minnesota Twins in L-A last night. Will Smith came up big at the plate for the Dodgers, going 2-for-4 with two solo home runs. Shohei Ohtani belted his 35th homer of the season and Andy Pages hit his 18th. Dustin May earned the win on the mound after throwing four-and-two-thirds scoreless innings of relief. The Dodgers remain atop the N-L West at 59-42. Byron Buxton hit a lead-off homer, while Kody Clemens had an R-B-I in the losing effort. David Festa was tagged with his fourth loss as the Twins fell to 48-52. The same two teams play tonight in L-A.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Lynx return from the W-N-B-A All-Star break with the league’s best record and a game tonight at home against Chicago. The 20-4 Lynx are playing the 7-15 Sky for the third time in their past four games. The tip time is set for 7 P-M at the Target Center in downtown Minneapolis. Star Minnesota forward Napheesa Coller won the Most Valuable Player Award of the All-Star Game on Saturday night in Indianapolis and says the weekend couldn’t have gone much better.

(Brooklyn, NY) — The defending W-N-B-A champions are adding to their front court. According to E-S-P-N, the New York Liberty are signing Emma Meesseman. The two-time W-N-B-A All-Star has not appeared in the league since 2022, when she averaged 12 points, six rebounds and four assists per game for the Chicago Sky. She spent her first seven seasons in the league with the Washington Mystics, where she won the 2019 Finals M-V-P. There had been speculation that Minnesota could have been the destination, so this is a bit of a blow to the championships of the Lynx.

(Eagan, MN) — The Minnesota Vikings are ramping up to the 2025 N-F-L season. The Purple begin training camp when all of their veterans report to T-C-O Performance Center today. The Vikings are expected to give second-year quarterback J-J McCarthy most of the first-team reps after missing his rookie campaign with a knee injury. Minnesota’s first preseason game will be against the Texans on August 9th.

(Green Bay, WI) — The Green Bay Packers are making sure star quarterback Jordan Love has top tier protection. E-S-P-N reported on Monday that Zach Tom agreed to a four-year, 88-million dollar extension. The deal includes a more than 30-million dollar signing bonus, which is the largest-ever for an offensive lineman. The right tackle was taken in the fourth round of the 2022 draft and has started every game over the past two seasons.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Golden Gopher football team is a little more than a week away from starting fall camp on campus. The Golden Gophers are looking to build off of last year’s 8-5 season, which included a bowl win over Virginia Tech in Charlotte. Minnesota linebacker Maverick Baronowski says the team has high hopes and that includes the dream to make the College Football Playoffs. >>AAC Rebrands As “American Conference”
(Undated) — The American Athletic Conference is undergoing a rebrand. The league announced on Monday the name will be changed to the “American Conference” and won’t use the “AAC” acronym anymore. Instead, the conference will be referred to as “American” and feature a first-ever mascot, an eagle named “Soar.” There are 15 schools that make up American, which sent eight football teams to bowl games last season.

(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota United are parting ways with one of their forward. The Loons traded striker Sangbin Jeong to St. Louis City S-C yesterday. The United will receive between one-point-six million and two-million dollars to complete the deal. Jeong appeared in 15 matches with Minnesota this season, and he didn’t register any goals or assists.

(New York, NY) — The FIFA (FEE-fuh) World Cup Final will be played about a year from now at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. New York City Mayor Eric Adams was part of the FIFA World Cup New York New Jersey Host Committee to ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange this morning to kick-off a one year countdown until the World Cup Final. MetLife Stadium will host eight matches during the tournament. It’s estimated there will be one million visitors in the New York New Jersey area for the World Cup.
>>Hockey Day Minnesota 2026 Matchups Announced
(Hastings, MN) — The Iowa Wild will play its first outdoor game in team history as part of Hockey Day Minnesota 2026 in Hastings. The Minnesota Wild’s A-H-L affiliate will host the Milwaukee Admirals at the United Heroes League complex on January 23rd. Hockey Day Minnesota will resume the next day with the Hastings girls’ hockey team hosting Park Cottage Grove, followed by a couple of boys’ high school games. The Minnesota Wild will then host the defending champion Florida Panthers that evening at Grand Casino Arena to wrap up the all-day hockey event.
