An important deadline is fast-approaching for those buying health insurance through the state-run MNsure exchange. C-E-O Allison O’Toole says, “If you don’t want a gap in coverage, if you want coverage for an entire calendar year starting in January, it’s important to enroll by December 15th.” Open enrollment continues through January 31st, but if someone waits until then, they could have a gap in health insurance coverage.
And O’Toole emphasizes that those switching insurance carriers should be aware that some have enrollment caps. “The sooner consumers shop, the more choice they’ll have,” she says, “so time is of the essence this year, and we really encourage people to shop as soon as they can.” For cost comparisons and information on possible tax credits, visit MNsure’s website.
