Officials say a record 116-thousand Minnesotans signed up for health insurance through MNsure during the open enrollment period just ended, and 30 percent of enrollees were new. C-E-O Allison O’Toole says MNsure is the only place consumers can get federal tax credits and “the reason why I think primarily we’re seeing a growth in enrollment.” Republican Senator Michelle Benson from Ham Lake responds those new enrollees “had to go to MNsure in order to get tax credits because their insurance is unaffordable…. We need to focus on making insurance affordable for Minnesotans.”
Benson proposes more incentives for people to make good choices, including holistic approaches to health care.
