Money for courthouse security in MN Senate budget bill

April 19, 2016 By Bill Werner

Sen. Ron Latz (DFL-St. Louis Park)

Five million dollars in state matching funds for security at county courthouses — one measure in a judiciary budget bill that’s moving foward in the Minnesota Senate. The court system requested 20 million dollars, and Senator Ron Latz says, “My hope is that they can at least meet some of the most immediate needs, like perhaps security screening at the entrances to the courthouses.”  The bill also increases jury-duty payments from 10 up to 20 dollars a day and increases the mileage reimbursement.
