Montevideo mother who lost daughter to opioids, will be Senator Klobuchar’s guest tonight for State of Union address

January 30, 2018 By Tasha Redel

Shelly Elkington of Montevideo says she’s honored to be Senator Amy Klobuchar’s guest tonight at President Trump’s State of the Union Address in Washington D.C.  Elkington lost her daughter Casey Jo in 2015 after she became addicted to opioids, following a surgery.  She was only 26.  Elkington says she first met Senator Amy Klobuchar during a roundtable discussion. Elkington says she’s grateful the senator continues her efforts to combat the opioid epidemic.

During tonight’s address, Senator Klobuchar hopes President Trump will offer more details of his plan to tackle the opioid epidemic.
