(Moorhead, MN) — Moorhead firefighters rescued a young man from the Red River Thursday night. Police say a pedestrian heard cries for help coming from the river and called 9-1-1. The man was clinging to a tree branch, about 5 feet from shore. Firefighter Anthony Cross, bundled up in a waterproof survival suit, and pulled the man to safety. The man was taken to Sanford Hospital for treatment of hypothermia. Police are still working to determine how the man ended up in the water. They says it’s possible the victim had been skateboarding when he fell into the river.
