Moorhead is using a readily-available local product — beet juice brine — to help keep its streets clear this winter. Public Works Director Steve Moore says after pre-treating streets with the anti-icing spray, snow came off a lot easier when the plows went through. The beet juice brine costs a quarter a gallon, but Moore says the city will also save money on sand, salt and plowing.
