A march and protests planned in downtown Minneapolis this afternoon (2pm start) as part of a national day of action against Trump administration policies on separating children from parents who illegally entered the U-S. Organizer Veronica Mendez Moore says today’s protests will also target corporations. She says, “Wells Fargo [and] U-S Bank have invested in the detention centers that are holding people, and they’re profiting off of this broken immigration system as well.”
In a statement Wells Fargo says, “The separation of children and families is anathema (uh-NATH-uh-muh) to our nation’s values and we are pleased that this practice has been halted. We encourage government leaders to work together to address our immigration challenges.”
Demonstrators say eight protesters were arrested Friday outside the Bloomington office of General Dynamics.
