>>Governor Walz Visiting Rochester to Discuss $5 Billion Mayo Clinic Expansion

(Rochester, MN) — Governor Tim Walz is visiting Rochester today (Mon 12:30pm) and making a stop at the nation’s top hospital.  The governor’s office says Walz will highlight progress on the Mayo Clinic’s five-billion-dollar expansion project in downtown Rochester.  Mayo Doctors Craig Daniels and Dough Holtan will be part of the discussion.

 

>>MPLS Fed Chief Kashkari: Tariffs Impacting Minnesota Soybeans

(Washington, DC) — Minneapolis Federal Reserve President Neel Kashkari says U-S tariffs and retaliatory tariffs could have a major impact on Minnesota agriculture.  Kashkari says he heard from an ag leader who said, “even if there’s a ten percent tariff from China on soybeans, zero Minnesota soybeans will go to China because it’s a competitive global market, it’s a commodity. They will have to go someplace else.”  China is the largest importer of Minnesotan soybeans.  Kashkari says there’s no doubt that tariffs push prices up and economic activity down.  He was a guest Sunday on C-B-S’ “Face the Nation.”

 

>>Police Find 2 Gunshot Victims Dead in Waite Park Home

(Waite Park, MN) — Authorities in the St. Cloud area are investigating a weekend shooting incident that left two people dead in Waite Park.  Officers responding to a report of gunshots fired Saturday afternoon found two people dead inside a home.  Two kids were there at the time, but they got out safely.  Police say there is no threat to the public.  The Minnesota B-C-A is assisting local investigators.  No names have been released.

 

>>Moorhead Police Searching for Suspect in Fatal Shooting

(Moorhead, MN) — Police in Moorhead are looking for the alleged gunman in a fatal shooting Sunday morning.  Officers say a man was shot and died near Probstfield Elementary School.  The suspect was reportedly seen fleeing in the scene in a light green, newer, midsize Chevrolet S-U-V.  Authorities say the suspect is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.  Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Red River Regional Dispatch (701-451-7660).

 

>>Becker County Woman Found Dead on Shore of Arrow Lake

(Detroit Lakes, MN) — The Becker County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a woman from Callaway.  Authorities were called to do a welfare check on Friday, but the 44-year-old woman wasn’t located.  Deputies continued the search Saturday morning and discovered Charity Perrine dead near a residence on the shore of Arrow Lake in Cormorant Township.  Investigators are still looking into the death of Perrine.

 

>>Motorcyclist Dies Crashing into Water-Filled Ditch near Hibbing

(Hibbing, MN) — Speed and alcohol use are believed to be contributing factors in a deadly motorcycle crash on the Iron Range near Hibbing.  The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office says the cyclist failed to navigate a turn on Highway 5, crossed the centerline, and crashed into a water-filled ditch Saturday afternoon.  Deputies say the 46-year-old Chisholm man was ejected from the cycle and Good Samaritans tried to save him, but he died at the scene.  The rider hasn’t been identified.

 

>>MPD Investigates Shooting of 3 Men at Cub Foods

(Minneapolis, MN) — Police are investigating a Sunday shooting outside a south Minneapolis grocery store that injured three men.  Investigators say two men exited a vehicle at Cub Foods and shot a man walking with a child.  The child was uninjured, but two other men were also hurt in the gunfire.  Two of the three victims were taken to the hospital.  The suspects left in the vehicle they came in.  No arrests are being reported.

 

>>Rice Boy Injured in Sauk Rapids Nerf Wars

(Sauk Rapids, MN) — Sauk Rapids police are warning children and their parents about Nerf gun wars after a boy was hit by a vehicle.  Officers were called to a pedestrian vs. vehicle crash Saturday afternoon.  High school-aged juveniles were involved in Nerf wars, when a 16-year-old boy from Rice was accidentally run over while hiding on the ground.  The victim was brought to St. Cloud Hospital and remains there for observation.  Police encourage everyone to cease Nerf wars before there is a fatality.

 

>>Wolves Beat Jazz to Earn 6th Seed in Playoffs, Face Lakers in First Round

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Timberwolves secured the sixth seed in the Western Conference playoffs with a 116-105 win over the Utah Jazz Sunday at Target Center.  Anthony Edwards led Minnesota with 43 points and finished as the N-B-A leader in three-pointers with 320 made this season.  The Wolves play the number three seed Lakers in the first round of the playoffs beginning this weekend in Los Angeles.  Minnesota and L-A split four games in the regular season.
