(Chanhassen, MN) — Forecasters say a couple rounds of thunderstorms today (Mon) could bring severe weather to Minnesota. National Weather Service Meteorologist Mike Griesinger says the main threat will be late this afternoon and evening. He says the greatest risk of severe storms will likely be in the southern half of the state, from Lake Mille Lacs on south. Griesinger says there is the potential for tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds later today.

(St. Paul, MN) — A bill passed by the Minnesota Senate allows a person training a service dog to have full and equal access to all housing accommodations. Current law gives homeowners associations the authority to prevent residents from housing service dogs in training. The legislation requires that a dog must be actively trained by an accredited organization. The bill passed the Senate by a vote of 60-2 and now heads to the governor’s desk to be signed into law.

(Eveleth, MN) — Residents rallied outside the U-S Hockey Hall of Fame in Eveleth on Saturday against plans to move it to St. Paul. Hundreds of Iron Range community members, including local and political leaders, spoke out against the proposed move. Some members of the hall of fame board of directors says the museum’s low visitor numbers, compared to other sporting hall of fames, are due to location. Democratic state Senator Grant Hauschild of Hermantown says it should stay exactly where it is in Eveleth, where hockey began. An amendment prohibiting the use of state funds to relocate the U-S Hockey Hall of Fame failed to pass the Minnesota Senate on Friday.

(Eagan, MN) — Congresswoman Angie Craig continues to push for permanent year-round sales of E-15 nationwide. The Minnesota Democrat is urging the Trump administration to give drivers in every state access to 15 percent ethanol in the summertime. Craig says, “until we do codify it nationwide, there’s going to be reluctance for retailers to invest in the infrastructure. So, we need to get this done. And this is a bipartisan bill. It certainly would give more certainty to America’s family farmers at a time when they need some certainty.” Minnesota and seven other Midwestern states have waivers to sell E-15 at the pumps between June and September.

(St. Paul, MN) — Richfield teacher Monica Byron will become the new president of Education Minnesota in July. Byron is currently vice president of the state’s largest teacher’s union. Longtime Education Minnesota president Denise Specht did not run for re-election and Byron ran unopposed at the annual convention. Byron has taught for 24 years in Richfied, most recently as an elementary math coach. The Minnesota Teacher of the Year banquet is next Sunday at the St. Paul RiverCentre.

(Mankato, MN) — The Minnesota Department of Transportation is asking drivers and farm equipment operators to share the road safely this time of year. MnDOT Assistant District Engineer Scott Morgan says it’s a good idea for motorists to slow down and limit distractions. Over the past three years, at least 455 crashes involving farm equipment have occurred in Minnesota, resulting in eight deaths and 180 injuries.

(Columbia Heights, MN) — Anoka County authorities are investigating stabbing that left a man dead in Columbia Heights. First responders found the victim with a stab wound Saturday afternoon and tried to save him, but he died at the scene. Officers say a woman was arrested and booked in the Anoka County jail. The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to identify the victim and the official cause and manner of death.

(Carlton, MN) — A man is jailed in Carlton County following a shooting incident Sunday afternoon near Cloquet. Fond Du Lac police were called to the report of someone shooting himself while cleaning a gun. Officers say the man was screaming out a window and fired his gun as they arrived, but it is unknown if the shots were fired directly at them. Authorities set up a perimeter and neighbors were asked to shelter in place. The man was eventually taken into custody, and no one was hurt.
>>Fire Destroys Maintenance Shed at Spirit Mountain in Duluth
(Duluth, MN) — A maintenance and storage shed at Spirit Mountain ski area in Duluth is a total loss after a fire. Crews responded to a fire report around 9:25 pm on Saturday. The maintenance/dry storage shed was fully engulfed in flames. No injuries were reported. The Duluth Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Timberwolves topped the Lakers 116-113 at Target Center Sunday to a take a 3-1 lead in the first-round playoff series. The Wolves outscored L-A 32-19 in the fourth quarter. Anthony Edwards led Minnesota with 43 points, Julius Randle scored 25, and Jaden McDaniels added 16 points and 11 rebounds. Luka Doncic had 38 points and LeBron James finished with 27 and 12 boards in the loss. Game 5 of the best-of-seven series is Wednesday night in Los Angeles.
