(Apple Valley, MN) — A Brainerd man is charged with second-degree manslaughter in the death of a co-worker at an Apple Valley worksite. Prosecutors say Christopher Boone Crimmins was operating a hydraulic grapple on August 20th when it struck and killed 26-year-old Tyler Anthony Lynch. According to the criminal complaint, Crimmins was maneuvering the grapple so its shadow appeared to grab Lynch and was watching the shadows instead of Lynch when the fatal injury occurred. Crimmins is scheduled to appear in court September 10th.
>>Man Killed in Normanna Township Fire
(Normanna Township, MN) — Authorities have identified the man killed in a fire in St. Louis County’s Normanna Township. Deputies say a neighbor called 911 Monday afternoon after hearing several propane tanks explode and seeing a nearby property on fire. Multiple outbuildings were engulfed. Firefighters later found 57-year-old Scott Larson dead at the scene. The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office and State Fire Marshal are investigating.

(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota DNR is easing burning restrictions in northeastern Minnesota after recent rainfall lowered wildfire risk. The DNR is lifting Class III restrictions in Cook, Lake, and northern St. Louis counties. Campfires and recreational fires are once again allowed in remote and backcountry areas on non-federal and non-Tribal lands. Permits are still required for burning vegetation and larger fires. The DNR says drought conditions persist in parts of Minnesota and urges people to continue using caution with fire.

(Minneapolis) – Beginning tonight (TUE), the city of Minneapolis will hold community meetings to hear from residents on the priorities and qualities they’d like to see in the city’s next police chief. The listening sessions will be held through the Mayor’s Office, Office of Community Safety, and City Council. The first meeting is tonight from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel. Meetings will also be held Wednesday night at the Sabathani Community Center and Farview Recreation Center. Minneapolis is holding a national search for its next police chief.
