(Redwood County, MN) – The annual tradition of Farm Fest begins this morning in Redwood County. And this year’s celebration will include plenty of politicians heading into Minnesota’s primary one week from today. Starting today, Congressional candidate forums will be held for Minnesota’s 1st and 2nd Districts at 10:30 a.m. Congressional candidates from the 6th, 7th and 8th Districts will be on stage this afternoon. Wednesday features candidate forums for the governor’s and U.S. Senate races. Farm Fest runs through Thursday.
>>Alcohol Suspected in Crash Involving State Trooper
(Forest Lake, MN) — Authorities say alcohol is believed to have played a role in a crash involving a Minnesota State Patrol squad on Interstate 35 near Forest Lake. Police say the trooper was parked in the median Sunday evening conducting speed enforcement when a northbound passenger vehicle left the roadway and struck the passenger side of the squad. Both the trooper and the other driver were taken to Regions Hospital with injuries. The Forest Lake Police Department says the investigation remains ongoing, and both vehicles have been impounded as evidence.

(St. Paul, MN) — State Senator Heather Gustafson of Vadnais Heights has been named a 2026 Legislator of Distinction by the League of Minnesota Cities. The organization says the DFL lawmaker was recognized for working closely with city officials and League staff on issues affecting local governments, including housing, state aid, and legislation considered by the Senate State and Local Government Committee. Gustafson says collaboration with local leaders helps lawmakers craft better policy and deliver stronger results for Minnesotans.
>>Driver Injured After Train Hits Stalled Vehicle in Randall
(Randall, MN) — A Cushing man was seriously injured after an Amtrak train struck his stalled vehicle in Randall early Saturday morning. The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office says 62-year-old James Progreba’s vehicle became disabled on the tracks around 2:30 a.m. He managed to get out before the train hit the vehicle but was struck by flying debris. Progreba was airlifted to CentraCare in St. Cloud.
>>Propane Torch Suspected in Gnesen Township Fire
(Gnesen Township, MN) — Authorities are investigating a structure fire in Gnesen(Guh-knee-sen) Township that caused moderate damage Monday afternoon. The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office says landscaping work was underway when a propane torch is believed to have ignited the fire. No one was inside the building, and no injuries were reported.
