>>Security Changes Wednesday at Minnesota State Capitol

(St. Paul, MN) — New security measures begin this morning (Wed) at the Minnesota State Capitol.  The Department of Public Safety says fewer public entrances will be open and there will be an increased security presence in those areas.  Starting today, two entrances with a total of four doors located on the south side of the Capitol will be open during regular business hours. Under the previous plan, there were three public entrances with a total of 14 doors open.  These entrances and all other access points will require a key card.  The State Patrol says it will continue to re-evaluate security at the Capitol complex.

 

>>Gun & Hoses Golf Tournament to Honor Champlin First Responders

(Ham Lake, MN) — First responders from Champlin will be honored at the Guns and Hoses golf tournament August 15th at Majestic Oaks in Ham Lake.  The Front Line Foundation says they will be recognized for their bravery and fast response that saved the life of Senator John Hoffman and his wife on June 14th.  The Hoffman’s daughter, Hope, is scheduled to attend the ceremony.  Hope is credited with calling 9-1-1 right away to report the shootings.  Champlin Police Chief Glen Schneider and a local paramedic will also be part of the event.

 

>>Authorities ID Rochester Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Vehicle

(Rochester, MN) — The pedestrian struck and killed by a car in Rochester was the assistant golf pro at the Rochester Golf and Country Club.  Officers said 38-year-old Nathan Westergaard was lying in the roadway when he was hit by a vehicle Sunday morning.  First responders tried to save him, but Westergaard died at the scene.  Investigators say the driver has been cooperating.  A GoFundMe account has been set up to help support Westergaard’s family.

 

>>Missing 12-Year-Old Girl with Diabetes Found Safe in Minneapolis

(Minneapolis, MN) — Police in Minneapolis report that the 12-year-old missing girl with type 1 diabetes has been found safe.  Victoria Jackson was reported missing after last being seen Saturday night near Minnehaha Falls.  Police Chief Brian O’Hara said it appears Victoria ran away from home and was staying at a friend’s house.  Jackson reportedly had enough insulin with her to treat her diabetes.  She walked home Tuesday night with her friend and a parent.

 

>>Suspect in Wabasha County Manhunt Taken into Custody

(Elgin, MN) — The Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office says the subject of Tuesday’s manhunt is in custody.  Authorities were searching for 29-year-old Drew Davis, who allegedly drove a stolen vehicle involved in a crash two miles west of Elgin.   State troopers say Davis was westbound when he hit an eastbound car head-on.  Davis fled the scene, prompting a shelter-in-place and manhunt utilizing canines and drones.  The other driver involved suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

 

>>Adam Sandler Bringing ‘You’re My Best Friend’ Tour to Minnesota

(St. Paul, MN) — Comedian and singer Adam Sandler is coming to Minnesota this fall.  Sandler added an October 22nd show at the Xcel Energy Center to his ‘You’re My Best Friend’ tour.  He’s performing in more than 30 cities after back-to-back sold-out tours in 2022 and 2023.  Sandler’s new movie “Happy Gilmore 2” had the biggest opening weekend in Netflix history.  Tickets for Adam Sandler at the X go on sale Friday.

 

>>Vikings Wide Receiver Addison Suspended for First 3 Games

(Eagan, MN) — Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison is suspended without pay for the first three games of the regular season.  The N-F-L’s suspension comes after Addison pleaded no contest to a reduced drunken driving charge related to his arrest in Los Angeles last July.  He is still allowed to play in all Vikings preseason games and training camp.  Addison’s first regular-season game will be in week 4 as the Vikings play the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dublin, Ireland.

 

>>Lynx Rally Past Seattle Storm in First Game Without Collier

(Seattle, WA) — The Minnesota Lynx rallied past the Seattle Storm 91-87 late last night (Tues) in Washington.  Minnesota outscored Seattle 56-45 in the second half and used a late 9-0 run to seal the victory.  Courtney Williams led the Lynx with 20 points, Kayla McBride scored 14, and Dijonai Carrington had 13 points in her Minnesota debut.  All-Star forward Napheesa Collier did not play due to an ankle injury.  The 25-and-5 Lynx play the 13-and-16 Washington Mystics Friday night at Target Center.

 

>>Twins Beat Paddack, Tigers in Detroit

(Detroit, MI) — The Twins are celebrating a 6-3 win over the Tigers and former teammate Chris Paddack Tuesday night in Detroit.  Paddack allowed four runs over four innings for his tenth loss of the season.  Twins starter Zebby Matthews pitched five innings of one-run ball for his third victory.  Minnesota rookie Luke Keaschall  returned from the injured list and hit his first career home run.  The Tigers and Twins play the rubber match today (Wed ) at Comerica Park.
