(Saturday, MN) — The Saint Paul Police Department is investigating after a body was found along Highway 61 Saturday morning. An officer was traveling northbound when he was flagged down by a group of people. They told the officer they had gathered there to mourn a family member who had died in a crash at that location a year ago and found a body in the brush along the roadside. Saint Paul fire medics were called to the scene and pronounced the man deceased.

(Undated) — Minnesotans get their first look this week at two of the three finalists for the University of Minnesota president, with the third candidate in the state next week. Doctor James Holloway from the University of New Mexico will attend open houses and campus forums today (Mon) in Morris (10 am forum) and Crookston (2 pm forum). Holloway will be in Duluth tomorrow and in Rochester and the Twin Cities on Wednesday. Doctor Laura Bloomberg from Cleveland State University will visit the U-of-M’s five campuses on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Doctor Rebecca Cunningham from the University of Michigan will be in Minnesota next week.

(Des Moines, IA) — A Minnesota woman tied to the death of a 72-year-old man in Faribault is in custody in Iowa. Gary Lehmeyer was found dead in his home last Monday. Investigators say 32-year-old Arlene Bell of Bemidji was in a relationship with Lehmeyer at the time of his death and is considered a person of interest in the case. She was driving Lehmeyer’s car when she was pulled over and arrested. Bell is charged with stealing the vehicle, and investigators plan to have her returned to Minnesota once the case in Iowa is resolved.

(St. Paul, MN) — Smaller communities across the state can now apply for thirty-nine million dollars in funding to build rental properties for their growing workforce. Senator Lindsey Port of Burnsville says many companies in greater Minnesota have wanted to expand over the last few years. Port says when workers do not have anywhere to live, those essential jobs go unfilled. Forgivable loans through the Workforce Housing Development Program cover 50 percent of local project costs.

(Minneapolis, MN) — University of Minnesota head football coach P.J. Fleck is shutting down any speculation that he may be ready for a new job. It began last week after UCLA head coach Chip Kelly reportedly resigned to accept a job as the offensive coordinator at Ohio State. Fleck heard the buzz about possibly leaving for the West Coast school after seven seasons with the Gophers. He issued a statement on social media over the weekend saying he was honored to be the coach at Minnesota and that he was ready to lead the team to an elite 2024 season.
