>>Parents, Students Speak Out Against ICE Presence on Minnesota Schools

(St. Paul, MN) — Calling the current ICE operations in Minnesota a “climate of fear,”  parents and students are speaking out about the impact immigration enforcement is having on education.  Becca Dryden is a mother and concerned over what her children are seeing when federal agents appear at their school.  She said, “the mere presence of ICE and their clear disregard for the safety of our communities puts everyone in danger. Danger that is particularly cruel to the most vulnerable in our communities like our children.”  Tuesday’s event at the State Capitol encouraged students to walk out of school Friday and join the “A Day of Truth and Freedom” in Minneapolis.

 

>>Vice President Vance Coming to Minnesota on Thursday

(Minneapolis, MN) — Multiple sources are reporting Vice President J-D Vance is scheduled to visit Minnesota tomorrow (Thurs).  It’s believed the vice president’s visit will include remarks in Minneapolis and a roundtable discussion with local leaders and community members.  This comes as political tensions intensify over the presence of U-S Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the state.  More information on Vance’s visit to Minnesota is expected to be released today.

 

>>Former NFL Reporter Tafoya Running for US Senate as a Republican

(Edina, MN) — Former N-F-L sideline reporter Michele Tafoya is running for the Republican U-S Senate nomination in Minnesota.  Tafoya filed federal election documents on Tuesday.  She’s never run for office but served as co-chair of Kendall Qualls’ 2022 Republican campaign for governor.  Tafoya grew up in California but later married a Minnesota native and lives in Edina with her husband and two children.  Former state Republican Party chair David Hann, ex-basketball player Royce White, and veteran Adam Schwarze are also seeking the G-O-P nomination.  U-S Senator Tina Smith is not seeking re-election this fall.

 

>>Westrom Cheers Whole Milk Coming Back to Schools

(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota Senator Torrey Westrom is applauding President Trump for bringing back whole and two percent milk to school lunch menus.  The Republican from Alexandria says this new legislation reverses Obama-era restrictions that limited milk choices in school to low-fat and skim.  Westrom says this decision supports Minnesota’s dairy economy by giving farmers more opportunities to supply whole and two percent milk to the schools.  The Trump decision does allow parents to still choose a non-dairy option for their child if requested through the school.

 

>>AG Commissioner Petersen Encouraged by Meeting with Mexican Consulate

(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner Thom Petersen says he’s encouraged following a recent meeting with the Mexican Consulate in St. Paul.  Petersen says Mexico remains one of the top markets for Minnesota and U-S agricultural exports.  He says they’re trying to continue to build that relationship with Mexico for corn, ham, and turkey.  They also discussed the US-Mexico-Canada agreement which aims to reduce or eliminate tariffs on most goods traded between the three countries.

 

>>Northfield High School Student Killed in Car vs. Semi Crash in Dakota County

(Greenvale Township, MN) — Dakota County authorities are investigating a car vs. semi crash that left a Northfield High School student dead and another injured.  Sheriff’s deputies say the car was attempting to turn when it collided with the semi at an intersection north of Northfield Monday afternoon.  Both occupants in the car were unresponsive and the 16-year-old driver, Berlyn Berghuis, died at the scene.  Her 16-year-old passenger was airlifted to a hospital in serious condition.  The semi driver wasn’t hurt.

 

>>60 Current, Former Minnesota Players Coming to TwinsFest

(Minneapolis, MN) — Tickets are still available for TwinsFest 2026 Friday and Saturday at Target Field.  Team spokesman Matt Hodson says this event connects generations of Twins baseball fans.  He says they’re going to have nearly 60 current, former, and future Twins players and six Hall of Famers – Bert Blyleven, Rod Carew, Paul Molitor, Joe Mauer, Jack Morris, and Tony Oliva.  Hodson says players and alumni will be mingling with fans at TwinsFest Live on Friday and the autograph signings and other events are on Saturday.  All the activities will be indoors.

 

>>Minnesota Wild Lose to Canadiens on Late Goal

(Montreal, QC) — The Minnesota Wild finished their three-game road trip with a disappointing 4-3 loss last night in Montreal.  Cole Caufield netted the game-winning goal for the Canadiens with 15 seconds left in regulation.  Minnesota’s Vladimir Tarasenko scored his second goal to tie the game 3-3 with 12:40 remaining in the third period.  Jesper Wallstedt made 29 saves in the loss.  The Wild are back home Thursday to face the Red Wings.

 

>>Minnesota Dance Takes 1st in 1A Pom for 4th Straight Year, 3rd in 1A Jazz

(Orlando, FL) — Minnesota college dance teams brought home major wins at the U-D-A (Universal Dance Association) Nationals over the weekend.  The University of Minnesota Gophers rallied after a fall on stage to take first place in Division 1-A pom for the fourth straight year, earning the program’s 24th national title.  They edged out the second place team by just three-tenths of a point and also finished third in D-1-A jazz.  In the Open Division, Minnesota State University–Mankato repeated as jazz champions for the third year in a row and took first in pom.  Head coach Madison Hebrink called the performances the highlight of an “amazing season.”  U-M-D finished close behind, taking second in both jazz and pom, while St. Cloud State placed fifth in pom and seventh in jazz.  In Division 1, the University of St. Thomas earned fifth place in both jazz and hip hop.
