>>Burnsville Parents Charged After Alleged Long-Term Abuse of 2-Year-Old Child
(Burnsville, MN) — A Burnsville couple is facing felony child abuse charges after prosecutors say their two-year-old son suffered months of severe abuse. 27-year-old Karina Burns is charged with child torture, assault and harassment, while 27-year-old Colt McNeese faces child endangerment charges. Investigators say the child’s extensive bruising led to a welfare check in June, and a pediatrician determined the injuries were consistent with abuse. Prosecutors allege Burns documented repeated assaults in text messages, photos, and videos sent to McNeese over two years. Both remain jailed. Burns’ bail is set at $500,000, while McNeese’s bail is $140,000.

(St. Paul, MN) – The Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety announced frightening numbers on Friday. So far, the Office says there have been 37 motorcycle fatalities this year on Minnesota roads. That’s up from 24 last year at this time, and Traffic Safety Director Mike Hanson says this year is on pace for around 90 fatalities. He said Minnesota has not seen numbers like that since the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. Hanson says half of all fatal accidents can be blamed on the motor vehicle driver, and the other half on motorcyclists. He’s calling on all Minnesotans to keep an eye out for one another on the roads.

(St. Cloud, MN) — A St. Cloud man has pleaded guilty to second-degree intentional murder and second-degree felony murder of an unborn child in the 2025 stabbing death of his pregnant girlfriend. Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison says Saleebaan Mohamed Abdirisaaq admitted stabbing the woman multiple times during an argument at a St. Cloud home on September 23rd of last year. The victim was pregnant with the couple’s child at the time. Sentencing is scheduled for November 25th.

(Duluth, MN) — New wildfire concerns are growing in northeastern Minnesota. The Superior National Forest now has 17 active wildfires, including four inside the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, after nine new fires were reported Thursday. The largest active fire is the 20-acre Thumb Fire in the BWCA, while several other lightning-sparked fires continue to burn in remote areas. Forest officials have issued an emergency closure for portions of the BWCAW and new fire restrictions, both taking effect today(Sat).

(Moorhead, MN) – A Minnesota state Senator is applauding this week’s settlement between the states and John Deere, allowing farmers the right to repair their own farm equipment. Under the agreement, John Deere must make its current and future resources available to farmers and repair providers. The lawsuit claimed John Deere used unfair practices that led to increased costs for farmers. Senator Rob Kupec (DFL-Moorhead) said, “With costs rising and major uncertainty, this settlement gives our farmers much-needed tools and options that will help them keep costs down.” Kupec introduced legislation in 2025 to give farmers these rights.

(St. Louis County, MN) – A 31-year-old Hibbing man has been sentenced to more than 12 years in prison for murder in the third degree following a fentanyl death. Travis Lukkar was convicted in St. Louis County Court earlier this year for causing the death of 36-year-old Ginae Jo Songer, also of Hibbing. Prosecutors said Songer died two days after getting a fatal dose of fentanyl from Lukkar in 2023.

(Minneapolis, MN) — Dick Bremer, the longtime voice of the Minnesota Twins, will officially take his place in Twins history Saturday as the 42nd member of the Twins Hall of Fame. The Dumont, Minnesota native spent 40 seasons calling Twins games on television, becoming one of the most recognizable and beloved broadcasters in franchise history. Bremer’s Hall of Fame plaque will be unveiled before the game, followed by an on-field induction ceremony featuring family, friends and many of the Twins stars whose careers he chronicled. The first 5,000 fans through the gates will also receive a commemorative Dick Bremer Twins Hall of Fame pin.
