>>Trump Rally in St. Cloud Suggests the Campaign Thinks Minnesota in Play

(St. Paul, MN) — The Trump presidential campaign plans to rally Minnesota Republicans on Saturday in St. Cloud.  Hamline University Professor David Schultz says the G-O-P ticket has its eye on the State of Hockey.  He said, “clearly Trump and Vance think it’s in play or at least want to put into play.”  Schultz says holding a large rally in a traditionally blue state is smart politics.  He says, “even if Minnesota is not in play, the fact that Trump is coming here is gonna now force Harris to devote resources to defending the state.”  A Harris campaign spokesperson said, “a Republican presidential candidate hasn’t won Minnesota since 1972, and this year will be no different.”

 

>>Governor Walz Spoke with VP Harris after President Biden Dropped Out of Race

(New Hope, MN) — Governor Tim Walz is on the short list of potential running mates for Kamala Harris’ Democratic presidential campaign.  Vice President Harris reportedly asked Walz for vetting materials.  Walz says it’s been “a little weird” to see his name floated as a possible V-P pick, but he wouldn’t comment on whether he’s being actively vetted.  The governor told reporters he talked to Harris early Sunday afternoon, shortly after news broke that President Biden was withdrawing from the race.  Walz says he told the campaign he will be there to do whatever he can to help.  He wouldn’t talk specifics and said he’s focused on the job here.

 

>>DFL Raises Record $200K in First 48 Hours of Harris Presidential Campaign

(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota D-F-L says it raised a record 200 thousand dollars in the first 48 hours after Vice President Kamala Harris became the expected Democratic presidential nominee.  Party leaders reported raising a record 100 thousand dollars through digital donations from Sunday to Monday.  D-F-L Chair Ken Martin said, ” grassroots DFLers are turning their time and resources that will help us keep Minnesota blue in November.”  The Trump presidential campaign says this is the year Republicans will turn Minnesota red for the first time since 1972.

 

>>Hennepin County Attorney Moriarty Calls Ethics Complaint “Unsurprising Action”

(Minneapolis, MN) — Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty is responding to the ethics complaint filed against her by the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association.  It accuses her of unethical behavior in the prosecution of State Trooper Ryan Londregan.  Moriarty said in a statement, “this is an unsurprising action by the M-P-P-O-A, an organization that has consistently lobbied against attempts to hold law enforcement accountable.”  She ended up dropping the charges against Trooper Londregan in the fatal shooting of Ricky Cobb on Interstate 94 in Minneapolis.

 

>>North Mankato Police Investigating Suspected Homicide

(North Mankato, MN) — A suspected homicide is under investigation in North Mankato.  Police were called to an apartment late Tuesday morning where they found a 27-year-old man dead.  Officers say a 41-year-old man in the apartment was taken into custody.  The North Mankato P-D called in the Minnesota B-C-A to assist with the case.  Authorities say there’s no threat to the public.  The victim’s name hasn’t been released.

 

>>Shakopee Man Pleads Guilty to Feeding Our Future Jury Bribery Scheme

(Minneapolis, MN) — Federal prosecutors say a Shakopee man is pleading guilty for his role in a providing a 120-thousand-dollar bribe to a juror in the Feeding Our Future fraud trial.  The U-S Attorney’s Office says 23-year-old Abdimajid Mohamed Nur and four others conspired to give a cash bribe to a juror in exchange for a not-guilty verdict in April.   Nur and his co-defendants targeted Juror 52 as she was the youngest juror and believed to be the only juror of color.  Court records show Nur’s codefendant, Ladan Ali, flew from Seattle to Minneapolis to deliver the money on May 30th.  Nur deleted a video of Ali delivering the money and other evidence to conceal his involvement in the scheme.  He will be sentenced later.

 

>>Pedestrian Killed by Metro Light Rail Train in St. Paul

(St. Paul, MN) — A pedestrian dead after being struck by a light rail train Tuesday in St. Paul.  Metro Transit police say the incident happened around 3:30 pm along a Green Line route on University Avenue in St. Paul.  Officers say the victim died at the scene.  Authorities aren’t identifying the victim.

 

>>3-Year-Old Hit by Vehicle in Minneapolis Sunday Recovering in Hospital

(Minneapolis, MN) — A three-year-old girl is in recovery after being hit by a vehicle Sunday in northeast Minneapolis.  Police say Elise Strong was brought to H-C-M-C where she remains.  A social media post says Elise is expected to survive, though she suffered a broken tibia, bruises to her lungs, face lacerations, and bleeding in her liver.  Police say a suspect was arrested on suspicion of criminal operation.

 

>>Red Lake Man Sentenced to 5 Years for Neglect Resulting in Child Death

(Minneapolis, MN) — A Red Lake man will spend five years in federal prison for child neglect resulting in death.  Court documents say 42-year-old Julius Fineday Senior deprived a minor of necessary food, health care, and other basic needs, causing malnutrition and a group A streptococcal infection between January 1st and Christmas Day 2022.  Prosecutors say Fineday and his co-defendant, Sharon Rosebear, failed to help the minor’s head lice, bring them to school, or take them to a doctor for three years other than for COVID vaccinations, for which the two received cash incentives.  Rosebear was convicted of felony child neglect in April 2024 and awaits sentencing.

 

>>Minnesota Vikings and LT Darrisaw Agree to 4-Year Extension

(Eagan, MN) — The Minnesota Vikings are giving left tackle Christian Darrisaw a four-year contract extension.  The 25-year-old former first-round draft pick reportedly agreed to a 113-million-dollar deal, with 77 million in guaranteed money.  The contract will keep Darrisaw in Minnesota through 2029.  His extension came on the day veterans reported to Vikings training camp in Eagan.  The first open practice is Saturday at T-C-O Stadium.
