Flanagan secured the party endorsement last month, while Craig plans to challenge her in the August primary. The winner will seek to replace retiring Senator Tina Smith.

(Indus, MN) — A former K-12 school campus in Koochiching County near the Minnesota-Canada border is up for sale. The 49-acre Indus School property closed in 2023 due to declining enrollment and includes a 69,000-square-foot school building, classrooms, a gym, library, cafeteria, and a 28,000-square-foot hockey arena. The sale also includes educational equipment and a Zamboni. The campus, located about 30 miles west of International Falls, could be redeveloped for educational, recreational, housing, or commercial use.

(Cyrus, MN) — A man is in custody after authorities say he was found trespassing inside an abandoned school in Pope County. Sheriff’s deputies spotted a suspicious vehicle outside the former Cyrus Technology Elementary School Monday morning and learned a man was inside the building. Deputies, assisted by drones and K-9 units, searched the school and eventually found the suspect hiding in a small tunnel. The man was arrested on suspicion of third-degree burglary and obstructing the legal process and is being held in the Douglas County Jail. The school has been closed for more than a decade.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Flame of Hope is making its final journey across Minnesota as the countdown continues to the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. Law enforcement officers and Special Olympics athletes are participating in the Torch Run, carrying the flame through communities around the state ahead of Saturday night’s Opening Ceremony at Huntington Bank Stadium. The torch will be carried into the stadium and used to light the cauldron, officially opening the Games. Nearly 3,000 athletes from across the nation will compete in 16 sports during the event, which runs June 20th through June 26th.

(St. Paul, MN) — A beloved fixture at St. Paul Saints games has passed away. Sister Rosalind Gefre, known to fans as the Saints’ “massaging nun,” died at the age of 96. For more than three decades, she offered thousands of free back and shoulder massages to fans at the ballpark. The Saints honored her unique contribution in 2006 with a special “bobble hands” giveaway. A public funeral for Sister Rosalind is scheduled for June 23rd in St. Paul.

(Undated) – Minnesota anglers are reeling in record catches this spring. The Department of Natural Resources says nine state fishing records have already been broken this year, well above the usual five to seven. DNR Fisheries Consultant Mandy Erickson calls the surge unusual, especially given the wide variety of species on the list. Seven of those records were catch-and-release. One standout: an 80-inch lake sturgeon, a milestone that signals the species is thriving and meeting long-term population goals. The DNR says if you think you’ve hooked a record fish, you can find submission details on its website.

(Eagan, MN) — The Minnesota Vikings are inviting fans back to Eagan for training camp this summer. The team says 13 practices at TCO Performance Center will be open to the public beginning August 1st. Season ticket holders and children five and under can attend daytime sessions for free, while tickets for other fans cost $ 10 for adults and $5 for children ages 17 and under. The Vikings open the preseason on the road against the New York Giants on August 15th and will host joint practices with the Baltimore Ravens on August 19th and 20th.
