(St. Paul, MN) — Governor Tim Walz says he’s directed the Minnesota Department of Public of Safety to be on heightened alert following President Trump’s decision to bomb Iran. The governor says while there are no known threats at this time, they will continue to monitor the situation and respond accordingly. A bulletin issued by the U-S Department of Homeland Security says the conflict is causing a heightened threat environment in the U-S and cyber attacks from Iran are likely.

(Washington, DC) — There’s partisan political reaction from Minnesota’s congressional delegation to the U-S airstrikes against nuclear facilities in Iran. Democratic Congresswoman Angie Craig said the president’s unilateral decision to launch direct strikes and threaten a wider, open-ended war in the Middle East without congressional debate or authorization puts American and allied troops and civilians at risk. Republican Congressman Pete Stauber said President Trump’s decision to surgically remove this threat was decisive leadership with the power of our extraordinary military force. He says, “this is peace through strength.”

(St. Paul, MN) — State lawmakers needed a special session two weeks ago to finish the budget agreement, but that may not be the only special session of the year. Republican House Speaker Lisa Demuth says they’re prepared if federal cuts mean they must come back for another special session. She says, “our state budget is set for the people of Minnesota. If there are changes that are going to need to be made, or if the governor will have need to call us back for a special session, we will address that and handle that if it does happen.” If a special session is not needed, the state legislature will then convene next on February 17th, 2026.

(Bemidji, MN) — Bemidji and Beltrami County remain under a state of emergency following a destructive thunderstorm early Saturday that left a ten-mile swath of damage. The National Weather Service estimates there were straight-line wind speeds of 90 to 120 miles per hour that toppled trees. Officials say several thousand homes were still in the dark Sunday evening, but crews are making progress restoring electricity. The most severe damage was east of the south end of Lake Bemidji. No injuries have been reported in the area. The Red Cross has an emergency shelter at the Sanford Center.
>>Road Buckle Causes Motorcycle Crash in Isanti County
(Cambridge, MN) — A road buckle is blamed for a causing a motorcycle accident in Isanti County Saturday evening that sent two riders to the hospital. The Minnesota State Patrol says a cycle driven by 65-year-old James Marron from St. Francis struck a road buckle on Highway 65 near Cambridge and crashed. Marron suffered non-life threatening injuries and his passenger – 66-year-old Renee Marron – was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. MnDOT had warned of potential road buckling into Minnesota due to the extreme heat.

(Rochester, MN) — Residents in Rochester are asked to line the Sixth Street Southwest at 1 p.m. today (Mon) to honor the America Freedom Tribute Wall, which is settling in the city for the first time. The memorial wall will lead the way to Soldiers Field, where it will stay all week at the park’s Veterans Memorial during Rochesterfest. There are multiple Olmsted County servicemen on the wall, including ten from Rochester, two from Stewartville, and one each from Oronoco, Byron, and Eyota.
>>Authorities Respond to Apparent Drowning on White Bear Lake
(White Bear Lake, MN) — Authorities in Washington County are investigating an apparent drowning Sunday on White Bear Lake. Officers responded to the east side of the lake after a woman fell off a boat into the water and didn’t resurface. The woman was underwater for more than 40 minutes before being located by the fire/rescue dive team. She was taken to the hospital and later died. No further information is being released.

(Duluth, MN) — Duluth Police say a robbery on June 14th is connected to a homicide the following day. Officers say 37-year-olds Lance Houle and Steve Sholtey were arrested on Friday for their roles in the robbery. Officials say the robbery is related to the murder of 37-year-old Cody Telega of Duluth. Police found Telega with multiple gunshot wounds on June 15th and he died in the hospital. A second man was also shot at but not injured. Two suspects arrested on the same day are 35-year-old Antonio Hendon and 41-year-old Amber Walker. No other information is available as to how the robbery is tied to the homicide.

(Bloomington, MN) — Police are looking for three suspects in a Sunday morning shooting that killed a 24-year-old victim. Officers found the victim lying on the ground suffering multiple gunshot wounds and he died at the scene. Witnesses told officers the man was sitting with several other men in the driveway when a fight began, and a man pulled his gun and fired at the victim. Police say the suspect and two other men fled from the scene. No arrests have been made.

(Shakopee, MN) — There was no racing over the at Canterbury Park due to the extreme heat. Race officials decided to play it safe and canceled the race cards for Saturday and Sunday. Both days, the heat index was higher than 105 degrees. The three stakes races scheduled for this past Saturday will now be held on this upcoming Saturday June 28th. As for Sunday’s canceled races, officials intend to add a make-up date on July 2nd pending the approval of the Minnesota Racing Commission. The basset hound races postponed on Sunday will now run next Sunday.

Minnesota B.A.S.S.Nation President Peter Perovich says it’s good for the sport and the bass population is in a good enough spot to handle a year-long season. Perovich says it will be especially helpful to younger anglers who want to try their hand at bass fishing and get started earlier. The continuous season will go into effect next year after being passed into law during this legislative session.
