(St. Paul, MN) — Protesters will be back outside Governor Walz’s office this afternoon (Mon3pm) to demonstrate against the proposed health care cuts to undocumented adults. The Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee is leading the protest for the second time within a week. They chanted, “D-F-L shame on you. Immigrants are people, too.” The protesters say taking health care away from anyone goes against Minnesota values. The governor and D-F-L lawmakers signed a budget agreement with Republicans to eliminate health care for undocumented adults, but not their children.

(St. Paul, MN) — The state Senate Transportation chair is ripping Minnesota Republicans in the U-S House for pushing to defund passenger rail projects in our state. Senator Scott Dibble says the Northern Lights Express, Blue Line light rail extension, and North Star Commuter Rail are important economic development projects. The Minneapolis Democrat said, ” It seems a little bit of a head scratcher that you’d have members of Congress actively fighting to diminish the success of Minnesota and Minnesotans. So, I don’t know what they’re thinking. I think they’re just completely out of their minds.” G-O-P Representatives Tom Emmer, Brad Finstad, Pete Stauber and Michelle Fischbach urged committee chairs to eliminate funding for the passenger rail projects due to “serious financial and community-centered concerns.”

(Minneapolis, MN) — The two victims shot outside Mariucci Arena on the University of Minnesota campus Friday night are out of the hospital. Police said a 19-year-old and a 49-year-old man were shot following the Wayzata High School graduation ceremony. The U of M confirmed both were released. Wayzata Public Schools said the 49-year-old victim is the parent of a student and continues to recover. Officers say a suspect was arrested but haven’t release any other information.
>>Northwest Minnesota Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash near Crookston
(Crookston, MN) — Authorities in northwest Minnesota are investigating a deadly motorcycle crash near Crookston. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says a passerby reported the crash on a county road north of U-S Highway 2 on Sunday afternoon. Deputies found 39-year-old Travis Shimpa of rural Erskine lying in the ditch and he died at the scene. The report did not indicate whether Shimpa was wearing a helmet.

(Wabasha, MN) — One person is dead after crash between a pickup and a U-T-V in southeastern Minnesota’s Wabasha County. Authorities say the truck and side-by-side collided Saturday evening on County Road 67 near Elgin. Sheriff’s deputies say the U-T-V driver – 24-year-old Skyler Helgeson – died at the scene. No word on the condition of the pickup driver or Helgeson’s passenger.

(St. Paul, MN) — Smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to blanket much of Minnesota. An air quality alert remains in effect across most of the state until this evening (Mon 6pm). The smoke plumes have reached as far south as the Georgia-Florida border. The air quality is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups in all of Minnesota except the northeast corner.

(San Francisco, CA) — The Minnesota Lynx are 7-and-0 after an 86-75 win over the expansion Golden State Valkyries Sunday night in San Francisco. Minnesota trailed 52-51 at halftime before outscoring Golden State 35-23 in the second half. The Lynx defense held the Valkyries to eight points in the third quarter. Napheesa Collier had 24 points and 11 rebounds, Courtney Williams scored 20, and Kayla McBride finished with 16 points. The unbeaten Lynx are back home Tuesday night to face the Phoenix Mercury.
