(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota lawmakers are back at the State Capitol this morning (Mon) for a one-day special session. The way it was called by Governor Tim Walz, legislators will have 21 hours to pass the two-year state budget. The special session starts at 10 a-m and must end by 7 a-m Tuesday. House leaders say they can’t stop members from introducing amendments, but they are discouraging it. Governor Walz and legislative leaders are confident all 14 bills will pass in the one-day session.

(Minneapolis, MN) — Many Minnesotans are wondering when adult-use cannabis will be available at retailers following the business license lottery. Adam Hoffman of Sweetleaves dispensary says they received pre-approval and are waiting on a few final documents and site inspection. Hoffman says, ” we’re dealing with a new industry and one of the first to ever enter it as a retailer. We’re thinking 120 days until maybe commencement of sales of flower.” Hoffman says the only ones legally growing adult-use cannabis in Minnesota right now are the Native American tribes.

(Blaine, MN) — Authorities in Anoka County continue to investigate a shooting at a mall in Blaine that left a 15- year-old boy dead. The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim in Friday night’s shooting as Sudais Abdi Omar from Brooklyn Park. Omar was found with a life-threatening gunshot wound in the Northtown parking lot and later died in the hospital. Deputies say a 20-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of aiding and an offender.
>>Four 18-Year-Olds Arrested in Connection to Burnsville Graduation Shooting
(Burnsville, MN) — Police say four 18-year-olds were arrested in connection with shots fired after the Burnsville High School graduation ceremony. Officers were called to multiple altercations and a report of gunshots around 8:30 Friday night. No one was injured. Two of the suspects are in the Dakota County jail pending charges including drive-by shooting and possession of a dangerous weapon on school property. A Burnsville P-D spokesman says another is being held for the F-B-I on weapons charges and the fourth suspect is accused of trespassing. Investigators say a gun was recovered at the scene.
>>Northfield Bicyclist Killed in Weekend Crash
(Northfield, MN) — A Northfield woman is the victim of a deadly car vs. bicycle crash this weekend. The Minnesota State Patrol says a vehicle and bike collided Saturday night at a downtown intersection. Troopers say the cyclist – 72-year-old Chunfeng Chu – died at the scene. The Northfield man driving the car wasn’t hurt and alcohol was not involved.

(Scandia, MN) — Washington County investigators say distracted driving appears to be a factor in a deadly crash early Saturday in Scandia. First responders were called to the single vehicle accident and found 23-year-old James Lowe, Junior of Lindstrom dead at the scene. Deputies say Lowe was alone in the car. No other information is being released.
>>Man Charged with Starting Small Wildfire near Eveleth
(Eveleth, MN) — A man from Eveleth makes his first court appearance this morning (Mon) for allegedly starting a small wildfire on the Iron Range. Officers found large amounts of smoke, an eight-to-ten-foot industrial tire on fire, as well as surrounding shrubbery and trees in flames last Tuesday at the Leonidas Overlook. A witness got a photo of the suspect, who was later identified as 59-year-old Daniel Kruse. He was located Eveleth and arrested. Kruse denies setting the fire.
>>Minnesota Lynx Get Road Win in Dallas to Improve to 9-0
(Arlington, TX) — The Minnesota Lynx are now 9-and-0 following an 81-65 win over the Dallas Wings Sunday in Texas. Napheesa Collier led the way with 28 points and ten rebounds and Kayla McBride scored 21. Minnesota outscored Dallas 24-9 in the fourth quarter. Paige Bueckers was cleared from the concussion protocol but did not play for the Wings due to illness. The Lynx play again Wednesday night in Seattle.
