>>Minnesota House Republicans Want to Delay Paid Family and Medical Leave

(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota’s Paid Family and Medical Leave law is set to begin in 2026, but House Republicans will argue today (Mon) that the program should be delayed one year.  It allows working Minnesotans to take up to 12 weeks for health and family medical reasons.  G-O-P House Speaker Lisa Demuth says without a delay, businesses will be hurt.  D-F-L House Ways and Means Committee lead Zach Stephenson of Coon Rapids says he remains committed to protecting important policies like Paid Family and Medical Leave that give hardworking people more economic security.

 

>>Reproductive Rights Rally Set for State Capitol

(St. Paul, MN) — Hundreds of Minnesotans are expected to rally at the State Capitol this afternoon (Mon1:30pm) for reproductive health, rights and justice.  State lawmakers are scheduled to join the Reproductive Freedom Caucus and Attorney General Keith Ellison.  After the rally, the attention will turn to talking to legislators about protecting reproductive freedoms in the state and taking action to oppose any possible federal ban on abortion.

 

>>Education Minnesota Calls on Lawmakers to Focus on Students, Educators

(St. Paul, MN) — Education Minnesota is calling on lawmakers to keep their focus on students and educators while setting the state budget.  President Denise Specht says all the uncertainty at the federal level is already having an impact on the state budget, and teachers and students shouldn’t have to pay for the chaos in Washington, D-C.  She says the threat of dismantling the U-S Department of Education touches every single school district and community in our state.  Minnesota receives about 10 percent or 1.4 billion dollars of its school funding from the federal government.

 

>>Public Funeral for Retired St. Paul Police Officer Reilly

(St. Paul, MN) — A large law enforcement presence is expected at today’s (Mon 11am) funeral for retired St. Paul Police Officer Felicia Reilly.  Sixty-seven-year-old Reilly died March 1st in Monticello, nearly 15 years after suffering a traumatic brain injury in the line of duty.  Officer Reilly will receive full honors during the funeral at Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church.  The public is invited to line the five-mile procession route from the church in St. Paul to the burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Roseville.  Flags are flying at half-staff in Minnesota today in honor and remembrance of Officer Reilly.

 

>>Less Than 60 Days to Get Your Real ID

(St. Louis Park, MN) — Another reminder that the deadline to get a Real I-D is officially less than 60 days away.  Triple-A Minnesota spokesperson Brynna Knapp says the Real I-D will look almost exactly like your standard I-D card, except that it’s marked with a star in the upper corner of the card.  Starting May 7th, you’ll need a Real I-D in order to fly domestically, or to enter certain federal buildings.  You can apply in person at a Department of Motor Vehicle location or pre-apply online.  More information can be found on the Minnesota D-M-V’s website.

 

>>Court Hearing for Man Accused of Shooting Woman in Chest in Truman

(Fairmont, MN) — A south central Minnesota man charged with shooting a woman in Truman has a court hearing today (Mon) in Martin County.  Prosecutors say 32-year-old Kyle Liford is facing five felonies including second-degree attempted murder and assault.  Sheriff’s deputies say Liford shot the victim in the chest on February 27th and fled the scene.  He remains in the Martin County Jail.

 

>>”Rare, Shocking” Sexual Assault Investigation Believed to Have More Victims

(St. Paul, MN) — A St. Paul man facing multiple first-degree sexual assault charges is believed to have had additional victims.  Officers say 18-year-old Rakai Davis was arrested in St. Cloud last week.  The alleged assaults happened in November 2024 and in 2023 when he was just 16 years old.  Police say two women came forward last year, one reporting Davis hit her head with a handgun.  Investigators believe there are at least two more victims in this “rare” and “shocking” case.  Davis is expected in court later this month.

 

>>Anoka County Authorities Respond to False Sexual Assault Attempt

(Anoka, MN) — Anoka County authorities are investigating the false report of a sexual assault attempt in Anoka.  Officers were called to the scene Saturday night and the alleged victim was taken to the hospital and released.  Law enforcement searched the area but could not locate a suspect.  Investigators say they later determined the attempted sexual assault never happened.  No other information is being released.

 

>>13 People Displaced by South Minneapolis Fire

(Minneapolis, MN) — Minneapolis fire officials say 13 people are displaced after an electrical fire at a home.  Residents reported an electrical cord exploded late Friday night in their south Minneapolis tri-plex.  The damage left the home uninhabitable, leaving eight adults, five children, and a cat without a place to stay.  No injuries were reported, and the cause is under investigation.  The Red Cross is helping the victims.

 

>>Minnesota Vikings Signing Running Back Aaron Jones to 2-Year Extension

(Eagan, MN) — The Minnesota Vikings are bringing back free-agent running back Aaron Jones.  The two-year contract extension is reportedly worth 20-million dollars with 13 million guaranteed.  Thirty-year-old Jones had a career-high 225 carries for just over 11-hundred yards and five touchdowns in his first season in Minnesota.  He also caught 51 passes for 408 yards and two scores.  Jones signed a one-year deal with the Purple last year after spending his first seven seasons with the rival Green Bay Packers.
