Women’s March Minnesota says Springsteen will perform his song, “Streets of Minneapolis” during the 2 p.m. program. Springsteen and the E-Street Band are kicking off their tour on March 31st at Target Center. The Boss played an anti-ICE benefit concert at First Avenue in Minneapolis in late January with Tom Morello. Other speakers and performers at Minnesota’s No Kings event include U-S Senator Bernie Sanders, folk musician Joan Baez, actress and activist Jane Fonda, and singer Maggie Rogers.

(Washington, DC) — Minnesota’s senators did not support Senator Markwayne Mullin’s confirmation as Department of Homeland Security secretary. The Oklahoma Republican was confirmed Monday on a 54-45 vote. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith voted “no.” Smith said she, “does not have confidence that Mullin will change the Trump administration’s reckless, dangerous and illegal immigration enforcement activity.” Mullin replaces former D-H-S Secretary Kristi Noem.

(Minneapolis, MN) — Anti-war groups are protesting military strikes against Iran today (Tues 5pm) outside the U-S Courthouse in Minneapolis. Organizers are calling it an emergency action to say “No” to Trump’s war on Iran. The MN Anti-War Committee’s Andrew Josefchak said, “The Trump administration has put forth no coherent military objectives, no timeline of operations, no strategy, and no off-ramp.” They’re calling for the U-S to have neither boots on the ground nor bombs in the air. Master Sergeant Nicole Amor of White Bear Lake died in a drone attack March 1st in Kuwait.

(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison and 21 other attorneys general are challenging new federal rules tied to U-S-D-A funding. The lawsuit argues the U-S-D-A is imposing “vague” and “coercive” conditions related to immigration, diversity, equity, inclusion, and gender identity that are unrelated to food assistance programs. This includes programs like SNAP, WIC, the school lunch program, and the Emergency Food Assistance Program. SNAP alone provides about 70–75 million dollars in monthly benefits to roughly 440,000 Minnesotans.

(St. Paul, MN) — Two bills aimed at preventing gun violence in Minnesota will get another look today (Tues 3pm) at the State Capitol. The first would prohibit the manufacturing and possession of ghost guns. These are weapons that don’t include a serial number and make it tougher for law enforcement to trace the weapon if used in a crime. The second bill would re-enact the state’s ban on binary triggers and enhanced penalties for straw purchases of firearms. Both bills will be heard in the House Public Safety Finance and Policy Committee.

(White Bear Lake, MN) — Investigators say they have found no evidence of arson in the house fire that killed Jessi Pierce and her three children. The White Bear Lake Fire Department released new details Monday night, though the exact cause of Saturday’s deadly fire remains under investigation. Pierce spent more than a decade covering the N-H-L, most recently focusing on the Minnesota Wild. Fellow hockey writer Michael Russo said the press box, and the press room, will be “a lot quieter and a lot less funny” without her presence. The Wild issued a statement calling the organization “heartbroken” by the loss of Pierce and her children.

(Sanborn, MN) — The S-U-V driver in Friday’s fatal southwestern Minnesota crash had no driver’s license, according to the State Patrol. Troopers say 67-year-old Martin Hanson of Springfield, had no license from any state. He and four members of a Minnesota family riding in a transit van were killed in Cottonwood County. The State Patrol told the Star Tribune that although the 2019 Ford Transit was built with seat belts, none were installed at the time of the crash. The van held a driver and 12 relatives gathered for a birthday celebration.

(Brainerd, MN) — The Minnesota D-N-R’s 2026 moose population estimate shows there are 4,470 animals in the state. Wildlife research manager Seth Goreham says they finished the flying the survey of northeastern Minnesota in January. He says the latest numbers suggest the moose population has stabilized over the last five or six years. The 2025 survey showed 4,075 moose. Goreham says there are new infrared cameras on the planes that can detect moose in deep foliage.

(Sacramento, CA) — The University of Minnesota women’s basketball team will play number-one seed U-C-L-A in the Sweet 16 Friday night in Sacramento, California. The 33-1 Bruins beat Oklahoma State 87-68 last night in the second round of the N-C-A-A Tournament. Center Lauren Betts scored a career-high 35 points. U-C-L-A topped the Golden Gophers 76-58 at Williams Arena in January. This is Minnesota’s first trip to the Sweet 16 since 2005.
