>>White Bear Lake Army Reserve Soldier Killed in Kuwait Drone Attack

(Fort Bragg, NC) — An Army Reserve soldier from Minnesota is one of the four killed in a drone attack Sunday in Kuwait.   The Department of War identified 39-year-old Sergeant First Class Nicole Amor of White Bear Lake as one of the victims.  Amor and the other soldiers were assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command in Des Moines, Iowa.  They were supporting Operation Epic Fury.  U-S Senator Amy Klobuchar says in a statement, “Sgt. Amor made the ultimate sacrifice serving our nation and we are forever indebted to her.”    Congressman Tom Emmer said on social media, “Our community, state, and nation will forever be thankful for her service to our country.”

 

>>Walz, Ellison Testify on Fraud in US House Oversight Committee

(Washington, DC) — Governor Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison are testifying this morning (Wed)  about fraud in the U-S House Oversight Committee.   Republican Chair James Comer has accused Walz and Ellison of enabling fraud in Minnesota and not doing enough to prevent it.   The governor is expected to tell the committee about all the steps already taken to combat fraud in the state.   Ellison said this week that his office has won more than 300 convictions in Medicaid fraud cases and 80 million dollars in judgements and restitution.

 

>>Daycare Security Camera Bill Introduced in Minnesota House

(St. Paul, MN) —  A bill introduced in the Minnesota House could save children across the state from being assaulted in daycare centers, and prosecute those behind the crimes.   Republican Representative Nolan West of Blaine is author of the bill.  West says, “Any childcare center that receives state funding through C-C-A-P, Early Learning Scholarships or Great Start Compensation…must install cameras in all infant and toddler rooms and retain the footage for 28 days.”    The bill is called “Harvey’s Law,” named after 11-month-old Harvey Muklebust who died in a daycare center in Savage last year.

 

>>Senate Bill Prohibits Prescription Drug Companies from TV Ads

(St. Paul, MN) — If you’re tired of seeing all those T-V commercials for prescription drugs, relief may be coming your way.  A proposal to prohibit prescription drug manufacturers from advertising on television is heading to the Senate Judiciary and Public Safety Committee.   Republican Senator Rich Draheim of Madison Lake says by spending billions of dollars on advertising, those costs get passed on to consumers through higher drug prices.   The proposal says that televised direct-to-consumer prescription drug ads are prohibited in every country except for the United States and New Zealand.

 

>>Mayo Clinic Reports Strong Financial Growth in 2025

(Rochester, MN) — Mayo Clinic says 2025 was “another strong year,” growing by more than 100 million dollars last year.   According to a required filing with the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board, Mayo’s net income from current activities reached 1.508 billion dollars last year, up from just over 1.4 billion dollars in 2024. Overall revenue without donor restrictions rose 8.2 percent to more than 21.5 billion dollars, including 18.1 billion dollars from medical services, nearly a 9.5 percent increase from 2024. Expenses also grew by about 8.4 percent. Mayo’s workforce increased by 12,400 people, bringing total employment to nearly 85,000.

 

>>Minnesota Native Identified Among Victims in Texas Mass Shooting

(Glenwood, MN) — A Minnesotan is one of three people killed in a mass shooting outside a crowded bar in Austin, Texas, last weekend. Family members say 30-year-old Jorge Pederson, who grew up in Glenwood and later lived in the Twin Cities, died from a gunshot wound to the head.   His mother told the Star Tribune he had moved to Austin just last month for a new job.   Pederson was an amateur M-M-A fighter.   Austin police say the gunman opened fire from an S-U-V on March 1st, killing three people and injuring more than a dozen others before officers fatally shot the suspect.

 

>>Man Dies in Snow Groomer Accident in St. Louis County

(Grand Lake, MN) —  A 67-year-old man is dead after a snow groomer accident Tuesday afternoon northwest of Duluth.  St. Louis County sheriff’s deputies were called to the report of a man trapped underneath a tracked snow groomer in a driveway in Grand Lake Township.  First responders tried to save him, but the man died at the scene.  The report says the tracked snow groomer was an older piece of equipment he was using to plow the driveway.  The accident didn’t happen on a snowmobile trail.

 

>>Body Recovered from Mississippi River in South St. Paul

(South St. Paul, MN) — Authorities in Dakota County are investigating after recovering of a body from the Mississippi River in South St. Paul.  Police say multiple agencies were called to Kaposia Landing Tuesday afternoon for the report of a body in the water.  Dakota County is leading the death investigation.  The remains haven’t been identified.

 

>>Puck Drops on Boys State Hockey Tournament in St. Paul

(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Boy’s State High School Hockey Tournament begins today (Wed) at Grand Casino Arena.    Jaimee Lucke Hendrikson of Visit St. Paul  says this tournament  draws more than a hundred thousand hockey fans.  She says an experience unlike any other and we are very lucky to have it right here in downtown St. Paul.   Hendrikson says people come from every corner of Minnesota to root for their teams.  The Class A quarterfinals open today (Wed) and the Class 2-A games start tomorrow.

 

>>Kaprizov Becomes Wild’s All-Time Goal Scorer in Win Over Tampa

(St. Paul, MN) —  Kirill Kaprizov became the Wild’s all-time leading goal scorer in Minnesota’s 5-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning last night in St. Paul.   Kaprizov scored an empty-netter for his 220th career goal and moves past Marian Gaborik for the franchise record.   Quinn Hughes, Mats Zuccarello, Yakov Trenin, and Brock Faber also lit the lamp, and Matt Boldy had three assists.   Filip Gustavsson made 25 saves for the victory.   The Wild play Friday night in Vegas and Sunday afternoon in Colorado.
