(Washington, DC) — A special honor for four Minnesota officers killed in the line of duty during a candlelight vigil Tuesday night in Washington, DC. The names of fallen Burnsville Officers Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge and a slain Minneapolis Officer Jamal Mitchell were read aloud. Fallen Voyageurs National Park Ranger Kevin Grossheim was also remembered. Red Lake Officer Jesse Branch will be added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Wall in 2026. The National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service is on Thursday.

(Grand Rapids, MN) — Firefighters across the state have been busy battling wildfires. Leanne Langeberg with the Interagency Fire Center says that over the past couple of days, we’ve had approximately 80 wildfires that firefighters have responded to throughout Minnesota. Up in Saint Louis County, three active wildfires continue to grow north of Duluth and none have been contained. As of Tuesday, around 140 structures had been lost in northeastern Minnesota.

(St. Paul, MN) — Budget negotiations continue behind closed doors between Governor Tim Walz and legislative leaders at the state Capitol. The governor says they’re still waiting for the budget targets, but the talks are still encouraging. Walz told reporters, “I can say it’s been very productive. It’s moving. I will still say the tone of these is encouraging and respectful. Differences, ideological differences still working.” The deadline to come up with a budget agreement is this Monday. Otherwise, the governor will have to call a special session. Republicans and Democrats are optimistic they can finish it by the deadline.

(St. Paul, MN) — Federal cuts to Minnesota’s Energy Assistance Program could impact residents across the state. Commerce Department Commissioner Grace Arnold says without energy assistance, thousands of Minnesotans would face higher energy costs, and beyond that, they would be at risk of having their utilities shut off. Arnold says the funding makes a meaningful difference to the lives of people in Minnesota, and eliminating the program isn’t government efficiency; it’s abandonment. It’s estimated that Minnesota will lose about $125 million a year for the program.

(New Richland, MN) — A rural New Richland man is dead after getting trapped in a grain bin on Monday. The Waseca County Sheriff’s Office says the wife of 75-year-old Michael Supalla called 9-1-1 to report she hadn’t heard from him while he worked inside a corn-filled grain bin. First responders from several agencies were called to the scene, but Supalla did not survive. No other information is available.

(Columbia Heights, MN) — Columbia Heights police are searching for a missing 16-year-old. Jordan Collins Jr. was last seen on May 8th. He’s described as Black, 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs about 140 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes. Collins has no vehicle and is not with any known family members. The officer says he has no similar history or known medical issues, but his family is concerned for his welfare.

(Minneapolis, MN) — Planning is underway for Farm Aid 40 at the Minnesota Gophers’ football stadium on September 20th. Co-executive director Shorlette Ammons says Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, and Dave Matthews will headline the 11-hour music festival. The lineup also includes Margo Price, Billy Strings, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, and Duluth’s Trampled by Turtles. Ammons says they selected Minnesota for this year’s event because the state is a leader in rural advocacy and sustainable and equitable agriculture. Tickets go on sale this Friday, ranging from $101 to $390.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Timberwolves can close out the Western Conference Semifinals with a win over the Warriors tonight in Game 5 at Target Center. The Wolves topped Golden State 117-110 Monday night in San Francisco to take a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series. Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle combined for 61 points in Minnesota’s Game 4 victory. The Warriors’ point guard, Steph Curry, has been ruled out again tonight due to a hamstring injury.

(Baltimore, MD)—The Twins and Orioles are playing a traditional doubleheader today at Camden Yards. The series opener in Baltimore on Tuesday evening was rained out. The first game is scheduled for 11:05 a.m. today, and the second game will be played 30 minutes after game one concludes. Minnesota swept Baltimore in three games last week at Target Field and is on an eight-game win streak.
