(Grand Rapids, MN) — A man from Warroad in northern Minnesota is the victim of a deadly motorcycle accident in Itasca County. The Minnesota State Patrol says 66-year-old Mark Russell Smith was riding on Highway 169 near Hill City Thursday night when he struck a deer. The report shows Smith was wearing a helmet but died at the scene. Troopers say impairment is not suspected.

(Shakopee, MN) — Live horse racing returns to Canterbury Park tonight as the track opens its 32nd season in Shakopee. First post is set for 5 p.m. Canterbury spokesperson Jeff Maday says the park is excited to welcome fans back with new entertainment and family-friendly events throughout the summer. One of the season highlights includes bulldog racing this Sunday, featuring 60 bulldogs racing on the dirt track. Maday says while wagering is a big part of horse racing, Canterbury also prides itself on putting on a show for guests of all ages. He says ticket prices remain affordable compared to many professional sporting events.

(Boston, MA) — The Minnesota Twins topped the Red Sox 8-6 in the series opener last night at Fenway Park.
