>>More Than Half of Minnesota Election Offices Received Bomb Threats

(St. Paul, MN)  —  State officials say more than half of the election offices in Minnesota’s 87 counties have received bomb threats since last Friday.  Secretary of State Steve Simon said in a statement, “Threats of violence against election workers, aimed at disrupting our democracy, are absolutely unacceptable.”  Simon added, “Although Election Day is over, election officials across the state are continuing their work to verify that the election was free, fair, accurate, and secure.”  His office is working with local, state, and federal partners to ensure that those responsible for these threats are held accountable.

 

>>Trump Presidential Campaign Still Hasn’t Reimbursed City of St. Cloud

(St. Cloud, MN) —  The City of St. Cloud still hasn’t been reimbursed by the Trump presidential campaign for hosting a big rally in July.  Mayor Dave Kleis says they sent two invoices to the Trump campaign for 209 thousand dollars, but they have not been paid.  Kleis says they are now going to try billing the Secret Service to get reimbursed for public safety and other expenses.  The mayor said, “I just don’t know how communities can absorb that, especially cities our size or smaller. Presidential elections are not going to get any less expensive.”  The Trump campaign did pay St. Cloud State University 35 thousand dollars to rent the hockey arena.

 

>>Workplace Injuries and Illnesses in Minnesota Reach All-Time Low

(St. Paul, MN) —  A recent survey finds Minnesota’s workplace injury and illness rates are at an all-time low.  James Honerman  with the Department of Labor and Industry says Minnesota had just over 65,000 workers with OSHA non-fatal workplace injuries in 2023, down from more than 85,000 in 2022.  There were 52-hundred illnesses reported last year compared to more than 19-thousand in 2022.   Honerman says more workplaces are focusing attention each day to safety and health programs that improved safety and health outcomes for workers.

 

>>2 Minnesotans Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Kansas Turnpike

(Wichita, KS) — The Kansas State Patrol says two people from southeastern Minnesota are the victims of a deadly multiple vehicle crash Monday morning on Interstate 35.   Investigators say an S-U-V driven by 78-year-old Thomas Reller of Zumbrota rear-ended a semi that had struck a deer, a barrier wall, and another semi-truck.  The report says Thomas Reller and his passenger – 27-year-old Octavia Reller – died at the scene.  Both semi drivers were taken to the hospital.

 

>>Death of Man in Sherburne County Jail Under Investigation

(Elk River, MN) — Authorities are investigating the death of a man in the Sherburne County jail in Elk River.  The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office says 49-year-old Damon Antone Young of Lino Lakes was found unresponsive in his bed Sunday morning.  Deputies say Young was taken to the hospital where he later died.  No other information is being released.

 

>>Duluth Stabbing Suspect Draws 20-Year Sentence for Attempted Murder

(Duluth, MN) — A Duluth man is sentenced to 20 years in prison for a January 2023 stabbing incident that left three people wounded.  Twenty-four-year-old Tristan St. Clair received the maximum sentence after pleading guilty to attempted second-degree murder.  The criminal complaint says he and Dustin St. Clair entered the victims’ residence without consent and Tristan stabbed one person in chest and a second victim multiple times in the chest, neck, and face.  Prosecutors say Tristan also struck a woman over the head with a glass coffee pot, causing lacerations to her head and face.  The suspects tried to flee the home, but their car got stuck in deep snow in the driveway.

 

>>Big Opening Weekend of Firearms Deer Season in Minnesota

(Undated,) — The D-N-R is reporting Minnesota hunters harvested more deer during this year’s firearms opening weekend than in 2023.  Big Game coordinator Todd Froberg says hunters statewide took about 55 thousand deer which is up four percent from last year.  The northeast and northwest regions saw a six- and five-percent increase.  The cumulative harvest after the opening weekend, including archery, youth, and various special hunts, was 83,426, up six percent from 78,542 in 2023.

 

>> Minnesota Ice Festival Returns to Viking Lakes

(Eagan, MN) —  The fourth annual Winter SKOLstice at Viking Lakes in Eagan will welcome back two big events.  The Minnesota Ice Festival featuring the world’s largest ice maze and the Magic of Lights drive-thru holiday light experience will be back.  The Magic of Lights display will begin on November 22nd.  The plan for the Minnesota Ice Festival is for it to begin on January 10th.  All activities are weather dependent.
