(Rockville, MN) — Republican Senator Jeff Howe from Rockville is the latest member of the legislature to announce he won’t seek re-election next year. Howe served three terms in the Minnesota House before being elected to the Senate in 2018. He said in statement, “serving in the Senate has been deeply rewarding, but it is time to give new voices the opportunity to represent our district.” At least 11 state lawmakers are not seeking re-election in 2026 and another 11 are running for higher office.

(Minneapolis, MN) — U-S Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem made a stop at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport Sunday to give bonus checks to some T-S-A workers. Noem thanked the T-S-A agents for working without pay during the federal government shutdown and awarded ten-thousand-dollar bonuses to 48 M-S-P employees. A union spokesperson said less than seven percent of the workforce at M-S-P who worked during the shutdown received a bonus. Nome said nominations and evaluations for the awards were handled at local airports.

(Minneapolis, MN) — Turns out food service workers at M-S-P International Airport won’t be going on strike during the Thanksgiving Day holiday travel period. The union announced a tentative agreement with HMSHost, one of the airport’s largest food and beverage operators. The new deal includes a first-ever tip line for fast food and barista workers, a higher tipped benefit, higher wages, and access to affordable dependent health insurance coverage. The agreement covers roughly 200 to 250 workers at M-S-P’s two terminals.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The music community in Minnesota and across the nation is mourning the loss of the Time drummer and flame-throwing guitarist Garry “Jellybean” Johnson. His loved ones say Johnson collapsed Friday in his Brooklyn Park home at died at North Memorial Hospital at age 69. Jellybean worked with Prince, Janet Jackson, the Minneapolis Funk All Stars, and many other artists. Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and the Time bandmate Jimmy Jam called Johnson, “the ambassador of Minneapolis music.” Jellybean would show up at Shaw’s Bar in northeast Minneapolis and play guitar several times week.

(Rockford, MN) — The Minnesota State Patrol is identifying two drivers killed in a weekend crash on Highway 55 between Rockford and Buffalo in Wright County. The report says an S-U-V driven by 50-year-old Shawn Slaven of Plymouth collided with a vehicle driven by 20-year-old Mindimoie Diggines of St. Paul early Saturday. Both Slaven and Diggines died at the scene. A passenger in Diggines’ vehicle, 18-year-old Brooke HoHeisel of Newport, suffered life-threatening injuries. Another passenger was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
>>Two Duck Hunters Rescued from Lake Alvin near Alexandria
(Alexandria, MN) — Two duck hunters rescued from a lake near Alexandria on Sunday are expected to be okay. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says a boat capsized on Lake Alvin and two people were in the water. Deputies located 23-year-old Ashten Buseman of Alexandria on the Arrowood Golf Course and he said his friend was still in the lake near the boat. A D-N-R conservation officer used a shallow water boat to rescue 22-year-old Ty Weller. Buseman and Weller were treated by paramedics at the scene but did not need be taken to the hospital.

(Green Bay, WI) — The Minnesota Vikings only had four yards of offense in the second half of Sunday’s 23-6 loss to the Packers at Lambeau Field. Quarterback J-J McCarthy was 12-for-19 for 87 yards and two interceptions and was sacked five times. Kicker Will Reichard did all of Minnesota’s scoring with a pair of field goals. The 4-and-7 Purple play former quarterback Sam Darnold and the 8-and-3 Seahawks this Sunday in Seattle.

(Winnipeg, MB) — The Minnesota Wild extended their winning streak to five games with a 3-0 shutout of the Jets Sunday in Winnipeg. Rookie goaltender Jesper Wallstedt made 32 saves for the third shutout in his last four starts. Danilla Yurov, Brock Faber, and Kirill Karprizov lit the lamp for Minnesota. The Wild close out their three-game road trip Wednesday night in Chicago.
