Members of the Minnesota Turkey Grower’s Association, Minnesota Turkey Research and Promotion Council, Second Harvest Heartland, State Ag Commissioner Thom Peterson, and a 4-H student are participating in the event. Minnesota’s turkey industry generates more than a billion dollars in economic activity and supports more than 26 thousand jobs.
>>Klobuchar Speaks Out Against Ban on Hemp-Based THC Products
(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota lawmakers, business owners and advocates are speaking out against President Trump’s federal hemp ban that passed as part of the bill to end the government shutdown. U-S Senator Amy Klobuchar says it passed in the middle of the night with no debate and will be painful for this Minnesota industry. Klobuchar said, “Hemp products alone brought in $16 million of state tax revenue through September and this amendment is a year period before it takes effect, but it could cost 2,700 jobs.” The Minnesota Democrat says the ban on hemp-based T-H-C products doesn’t go into effect for a year, and she and her colleagues will be working to reverse it.

(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Broadcasters Association is honoring state Senator Ann Rest of New Hope with its “Lifetime Achievement Award.” The M-B-A says it celebrates Senator Rest’s decades of support for freedom of speech, protecting the First Amendment, and for understanding the important role broadcasters play in keeping Minnesotans informed about important issues. Rest announced she would retire from the Minnesota Senate after 42 years when her current term expires in 2026.

(Minneapolis, MN) — Passenger activity is ramping up today and tomorrow (Tues &Wed) at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. M-S-P’s Jeff Lea says the terminal lobbies are really crowded during the Thanksgiving travel period. He says this is one of the busiest times at M-S-P and usually one or two days will be in the top ten for the year. Lea says Wednesday will be the busiest day before Thanksgiving and Sunday is usually the peak day of the holiday week.
>>Heavy Snow Expected Across Central Minnesota
(Chanhassen, MN) — Winter storm warnings, watches, and advisories are posted through tomorrow morning (Wed) for most of Minnesota. National Weather Service Meteorologist Mike Greisinger says a strengthening system is bringing heavy snow across central Minnesota. He says five to eight inches is expected from Elbow Lake to Alexandria to Little Falls up to Brainerd over toward Mora and Hinckley. Greisinger says the Twin Cities and most of southern Minnesota will likely see one to three inches.

(Saint Paul, MN) — Activists rally tonight (Tues) at Bro-Tex in Saint Paul, one week after a violent federal immigration raid. Organizers say ICE and Homeland Security agents detained 14 workers during the November 18th operation and used tear gas, pepper spray, and force against protestors. The Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee is calling for “ICE out of the Twin Cities” and stronger protections against raids.
>>Shakopee Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Feeding Our Future Fraud Scheme
(Minneapolis, MN) — A Shakopee man will spend ten years in federal prison for playing a key role in the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme. Prosecutors say 24-year-old Abdimajid Mohamed Nur was also ordered to pay 48 million dollars in restitution. Nur and his co-defendants claimed to serve 18 million meals to children at more than 30 food distribution sites but stole more than 47 million in program funds. Court records show Nur started the scheme out of Empire Cuisine & Market in April 2020. Nur and others also attempted to bribe a Feeding Our Future trial juror with 120 thousand dollars in cash for a not guilty verdict. Sentencing is pending in the juror bribery case.
>>Minneapolis Man Gets 38 Years for Kandiyohi County Shooting, Murder
(Willmar, MN) — A Minneapolis man is sentenced to more than 38 years in prison for an October 2024 shooting and a murder in Kandiyohi County. Twenty-seven-year-old Ameer Musa Matariyeh will have to serve 25-and-a-half years before being eligible for parole. Matariyeh was on the run from police when she shot and wounded Peter Mayerchak at the victim’s rural Lake Lillian home, then fatally shot 55-year-old Jerome Skluzacek in his pickup on the side of Highway 23 in Willmar. In court Monday, Matariyeh apologized to his victims and their families and to his daughter for having to grow up without a father.
>>Sibley County Man Charged with Fatally Running Over Wife
(Gaylord, MN) — A south central Minnesota man is accused of intentionally running over his wife Saturday night in Sibley County. Forty-eight-year-old Jeremy Davidson of rural Le Sueur is charged with criminal vehicular homicide in the death of 46-year-old Melissa Davidson. He called law enforcement to report his wife jumped out of the truck and was run over. Melissa died in the hospital. Deputies say Davidson smelled of alcohol but refused a preliminary breath test before his arrest. The criminal complaint says a review of squad camera footage while Davidson was in the back seat captured him saying, “I just killed my wife dude” and “I am going to prison, she’s dead.” He remains in the Sibley County jail.

(Minneapolis, MN) — Community members will speak to the public this morning (Tues ) to demand accountability in the murder of Mariah Samuels in Minneapolis. Advocates say Samuels was killed by her ex-boyfriend, David Wright, after Minneapolis Police failed to enforce an order of protection, despite prior threats and violence. The Twin Cities Coalition for Justice is calling for transparency from M-P-D and the release of all case information to Samuels’ family. Organizers also want stronger oversight of the department, including an elected civilian accountability commission, as city leaders consider increasing M-P-D’s budget.
>>Timberwolves Blow Late 10-Point Lead in Overtime Loss to Kings
(Sacramento, CA) — The Minnesota Timberwolves blew a late lead before falling to the Kings 117-112 in overtime Monday night in Sacramento. The Wolves were up by ten points with three minutes remaining and the Kings used a 10-0 run force O-T. Sacramento outscored Minnesota 16-11 in the extra frame. Anthony Edwards scored 43 points in the loss, and Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo had 17 each. The 10-and-7 Timberwolves play the 17-and-1 Thunder tomorrow night in Oklahoma City.
