(St. Paul, MN) — Republicans plan to go to court to contest D-F-L Representative Brad Tabke’s narrow victory over G-O-P challenger Aaron Paul in Minnesota House District 54-A. A recount in Scott County determined that the Democrat from Shakopee won re-election by 14 votes. But House Republican Leader Lisa Demuth said in a statement, “The recount may be over, but the investigation into the 21 missing ballots in District 54A is still ongoing.” A D-F-L House spokesperson responded, “We have seen nothing that should cause doubt about the result of the recount and we expect Rep. Tabke to again prevail in an election contest.” The House is tied with 67 members from each party.

(Minneapolis, MN) — Today (Wed) and Sunday will likely be the two busiest days at Minneapolis-St.Paul International Airport. The T-S-A’s Jessica Mayle says we are at pre-pandemic volumes and this Thanksgiving period is probably going to be the busiest on record at M-S-P. She recommends passengers arrive two hours before their flight and pack smart. Mayle says it was crowded Tuesday, but things went smoothly. She says new C-T scanners at security checkpoints lead to fewer bag checks and passengers no longer need to remove liquids or laptops from their bags.

(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Energy Assistance Program is providing funds to people struggling to pay their heating bills. Michael Schmitz with Department of Commerce says the state was recently awarded 112 million dollars in federal money. He says they have served over 50 thousand households already and expect to assist as many as 130 thousand this heating season. Schmitz says families with a household income of up to 68 thousand dollars may qualify for heating assistance.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The University of Minnesota installed temporary fencing along the upper level of the Washington Avenue Bridge to reduce the risk of suicide attempts. Erich Mische of SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education) says,” this location has been a challenge for decades, and this is the first time in 50 years that there has been a constructive approach to address this challenge.” About 20 thousand pedestrians and seven thousand bicyclists cross the bridge’s upper level daily.

(Duluth, MN) — An ordinance approved by the St. Louis County Board Tuesday regulates cannabis businesses. The ordinance goes into effect January 1, 2025. It will cover the municipalities, townships and unorganized townships where the county has the planning and zoning authority. The ordinance intends to make sure no cannabis retail business can operate within 1,000 feet of a school or within 500 feet of a daycare, and the use of cannabis will be banned in public parks and indoor places where smoking is banned. The county will grant approval to three cannabis retail businesses based on population.
>>Kansas City Man Charged with Stabbing Fleet Farm Employee in Carver County
(Carver, MN) — A man from Kansas City is now charged with felony assault for the alleged stabbing of a 17-year-old Fleet Farm employee in Carver. Sheriff’s deputies say 31-year-old Gerald Hudson of Kansas stabbed the female employee in the neck Sunday and fled the scene. The teen from Jordan is in critical but stable condition. The criminal complaint says Hudson denied stabbing the employee but told investigators he hit her with a “plastic thing.” Authorities haven’t recovered the assault weapon. Hudson has another court hearing December 13th.

(Minneapolis, MN) — A Minneapolis man will spend 24 years in federal prison after robbing two women while armed and stealing from another. Raphael Nunn was found guilty of one count of kidnapping and two counts each of bank fraud and aggravated identity theft. Prosecutors say Nunn confronted a woman in Arden Hills in September 2022, brandished a handgun, forced her to drive to a Minneapolis A-T-M to withdraw cash for him, and then took the victim’s keys. A search of Nunn’s phone turned up evidence of the kidnapping, stolen items from another woman, and evidence of a third woman being robbed at gunpoint.

(Turtle River, MN) — Authorities in Beltrami County are investigating a crash Tuesday morning that left one person dead and one hospitalized. Sheriff’s deputies say two vehicles collided north of Bemidji and the 19-year-old driver of one of the cars died at the scene. A woman from the other vehicle was taken to a Bemidji hospital. No word on her current condition.

(Eagan, MN) — The Minnesota Vikings will be missing linebacker Ivan Pace, Junior for at least four games. Pace was placed on injured reserve Tuesday due to a hamstring injury suffered in Sunday’s win at Chicago. He has 59 tackles, six tackles for loss, three sacks, and a fumble recovery for a touchdown this season. The 9-and-2 Purple host the 6-and-5 Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
