(Bloomington, MN) — The Mall of America is expected to be packed with thousands of shoppers today looking for Black Friday deals. V-P of marketing Jill Renslow says they start lining up on Thanksgiving night for today’s 7 a-m opening. Thirteen-thousand people went through the doors in the first hour last year. Renslow says there are prizes and mystery scratch-off cards for shoppers arriving early at M-O-A. She says many retailers are offering new sales for Black Friday.

Stauber said on Facebook,”This year Republicans passed the biggest break for working-class Americans EVER. No taxes on tips or overtime, tax deductions for Social Security seniors, a doubled child tax credit, and boosts for small businesses.” Democrats argue most of the tax cuts went to the wealthiest Americans.

(New York, NY) — The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade showcased some Ojibwe cultural tradition from Minnesota this year. Jingle dancers with the Red Lake Nation performed Thursday as part of Native Pride Productions. Selena Jourdain and her daughter, Ivy Rosebear, were jingle dancing for millions of people in New York City. Selena says she wore a red jingle dress to honor Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women.

(Waseca, MN) — Farmamerica in Waseca is hosting its annual Turkey Trot 5K fun run this Black Friday morning. Officials say they will also be celebrating one year of Peach and Blossom serving as agricultural ambassadors at the center. Peach and Blossom are the 2024 Thanksgiving turkeys raised in Northfield that were pardoned by then President Joe Biden. They have welcomed 14 thousand visitors as part of school field trips, guided tours, and day camps teaching about Minnesota’s role as the top turkey-producing state.
>>Snowmobiler Rescued near Meadowlands in St. Louis County
(Meadowlands, MN) — A snowmobiler is okay after being rescued by St. Louis County authorities Thursday afternoon near Meadowlands. The sheriff’s office says the 55-year-old man got his snowmobile stuck in a swamp Wednesday night and spent the night in a remote cabin. He was supposed to meet a friend in the morning but didn’t show up. Deputies located the man about two miles from the trailhead and he was wet and cold but not injured.

(Undated) — The Department of Natural Resources is encouraging Minnesotans to take part in “Free Park Day” this Black Friday. The D-N-R’s Sara Berhow says the state is waiving vehicle permit requirements today at all 75 state parks and recreation areas. She says it’s an opportunity to get outside and burn off that extra piece of pie you ate on Thanksgiving. There are four “Free Park Days” a year in Minnesota. For more information, head to dnr.gov.

(Roseville, MN) — The Minnesota Lottery says two players won 50-thousand-dollar prizes in Wednesday’s Powerball drawing. The tickets were purchased at the House of Wine and Liquor in Red Wing and at Short Stop in Virginia. Nobody won the Powerball jackpot which grows to an estimated 719 million dollars for Saturday’s drawing.

(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Wild host the Colorado Avalanche this afternoon (Fri 2:30pm) on Native American Heritage Day. The Black Friday matchup will feature the first-ever Ojibwe-language broadcast of an N-H-L game. The Wild topped Chicago 4-3 in overtime Wednesday for their sixth straight win. Colorado is coming off a 6-0 shut-out victory over San Jose Wednesday night in Denver.

(Palm Desert, CA) — The University of Minnesota men’s basketball team lost to Stanford 72-68 last night in the 2025 Acrisure Series in Palm Desert, California. The Golden Gophers led by three points at halftime but were outscored by the Cardinal 41-34 in the second half. Jaylen Crocker-Johnson led Minnesota with 23 points and Cade Tyson added 19. The Gophers take on Santa Clara tonight (Fri 8:30 pm) in Greater Palm Springs.
