>>Walz and Vance Stumping in La Crosse on Day Before Election

(Minneapolis, MN) —  Governor and Democratic vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz starts off this day before the election (Mon 9am) greeting supporters at Twin Cities Airport and then heads to La Crosse, Wisconsin.  Republican rival J-D Vance also has a morning event there as the Trump and Harris campaigns continue focusing on battleground Wisconsin.  Senator Vance will be at the La Crosse Center (9:30am) when Walz is a couple miles away at Tri Quest Charities (10am).  After La Crosse, Walz heads to Stevens Point (2:45pm) and then to Milwaukee (6pm).  Walz also has a late-night (9:30pm) event in Detroit, Michigan.

 

>>Women and Young Voters May Be Underrepresented in Presidential Polls

(St. Paul, MN) — The latest national polls suggest Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are tied with 49 percent support the day before the election.  But Hamline University Professor David Schultz says two groups of people may be underrepresented in these surveys.  He says, “the polls may not be capturing the depth and degree to which women are motivated to vote. And two, I think the whole election comes down to what people under the age of 30 are going to do. If they show up, Harris wins. If they don’t show up, Trump wins.”  Schultz notes that women are 53 to 54 percent of the voters in the U-S which makes them the majority.

 

>>Authorities Investigating Huisentruit Disappearance Search in Winsted, Minnesota

(Winsted, MN) — Nearly 30 years after Minnesota native and T-V anchor Jodi Huisentruit disappeared in Mason City, Iowa, there may be a break in the cold case.  The website Find Jodi says Iowa investigators following a tip searched an area of new apartment construction two weeks ago in Winsted about an hour west of the Twin Cities.  Mason City Police Chief Jeff Brinkley confirmed the search and said in a statement, “they collaborated with Minnesota law enforcement officials to follow up on a lead related to Jodi Huisentruit’s disappearance. Insights obtained from this ongoing effort will be utilized in the investigation.  Currently, there is no additional information available for public release.”  The 27-year-old from Long Prairie failed to arrive at her job at K-I-M-T T-V in Mason City on June 27th, 1995.

 

>>St. Paul Police Investigate Deadly Stabbing on Sunday Night

(St. Paul, MN) — One man is dead and another man is in custody following a stabbing Sunday night in the Summit-University neighborhood of St. Paul.  Police found the victim unconscious and barely breathing in an apartment hallway with puncture wounds to the torso.  He was treated by paramedics and taken to Regions Hospital where he died of his injuries.  Officers say the suspect was located at the scene and taken into custody.  Preliminary information indicates the two men got into a fight before the victim was gravely injured.  This is the 25th homicide of the year in St. Paul.

 

>>Moorhead Man Accused of Ramming Police Squad Cars

(Moorhead, MN) — A man jailed in Moorhead is accused of ramming police cars with his vehicle Saturday following a domestic incident.  Officers say the 19-year-old suspect was uncooperative and backed into a squad car before fleeing the scene.  The man allegedly rammed another police vehicle that was chasing him.  He was later arrested at the home of the domestic call.  One officer was treated for injuries and two squad cars were damaged.

 

>>End of Daylight Saving Time Could Lead to Drowsy Driving in Minnesota

(St. Louis Park, MN) — The end of daylight saving time in Minnesota means sunsets before 5 p-m and more time driving in darkness.  Brynna Knapp with Triple-A Minnesota says the change can result in drowsy driving.  She says, “we’ll all be adjusting to the time change on Monday morning and likely driving in the dark daily for the foreseeable future here in the winter. And it really can have a negative impact on energy levels.”  Knapp says it’s important to get a full night of sleep before you get behind the wheel and to review your driving habits.

 

>>Army Corps of Engineers Closes St. Anthony Falls and Lower Lock and Dam 1

(St. Paul, MN) — A dry fall is resulting in the early closure of two locks along the Upper Mississippi River.  The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers closed the Lower St. Anthony Falls Lock and Dam, and Lock and Dam 1 near Minneapolis to commercial and recreational vessels on Sunday.  Navigation will continue on the river south of Lock and Dam 1 until December 9th, when the Corps says maintenance will begin on three locks and dams within the St. Paul District.  The Minneapolis locks also closed around this time a year ago because of low river levels.

 

>>Vikings Top Colts on Sunday Night Football at US Bank Stadium

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Vikings are celebrating a 21-13 win over the Indianapolis Colts Sunday night at U-S Bank Stadium.  Sam Darnold threw for 290 yards and touchdowns to Jalen Nailor, Jordan Addison, and Josh Oliver, but also had two interceptions and lost a fumble that resulted in a touchdown.  The replay showed Darnold take a blow to the head before losing the ball.  Justin Jefferson caught seven passes for 137 yards.  The 6-and-2 Vikes play the 2-and-7 Jaguars Sunday in Jacksonville.
