The governor said there were a lot of birds out there and they got two roosters while hunting along a slough. He said the dogs were great and the weather was perfect. Walz announced that next year’s Governor’s Pheasant Hunting Opener will be in Northfield.

(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota is suspending the use of alcohol breath testing machines in suspected D-W-I cases statewide. The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) directed law enforcement agencies to stop using the DataMaster devices due to concerns over their reliability. The B-C-A says nearly 20 cases in Hennepin County and more than 100 in Olmsted County could be affected. In Aitkin County, prosecutors have already dismissed charges in at least one case, and in Winona County about 45 tests were compromised and charges based on faulty data are also being dropped. Officials are now reviewing impacted cases and working to determine next steps.

(Rochester, MN) — Eight Minnesota fire departments will be receiving free carbon monoxide (CO) alarms to install in homes in their communities. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is kicking off the event with the Rochester Fire Department today. The free C-O alarms will be handed out thanks to a federal grant. Other cities receiving free C-O alarms are Austin, Bemidji, Brainerd, Duluth, Red Wing, Virginia, and Willmar. Firefighters will install the alarms free of charge in homes and educate residents about C-O poisoning and prevention.

(Shafer, MN) — A man from east central Minnesota is dead after hitting a deer on his motorcycle early Sunday in Chisago County. The Minnesota State Patrol says 71-year-old Bruce Filmore of Shafer was riding on Highway 95 when he struck a deer and laid his cycle down in the northbound lanes. Troopers say Fillmore died in the hospital. The report shows the roadway was dry and that alcohol was not involved.

Hennepin Arts C-E-O Todd Duesing says this production is similar the 1984 hit movie, but with some added songs adapted for the stage. Duesing says the talented creative team has produced a stage adaption that is engaging, exciting, and really represents the artistry of Prince. People from all over the world have purchased tickets for the 39 performances in Prince’s hometown. There are some tickets still available at Hennepinarts.org.

(St. Paul, MN) — The 1-and-1 Minnesota Wild play the 1-and-2 L-A Kings tonight (Mon 7pm) at Grand Casino Arena. The Wild fell to the Columbus Blue Jackets 7-4 in the home opener on Saturday. Kirill Kaprizov scored twice and had an assist and Matt Boldy added a goal and two assists for Minnesota. All four of the Wild’s goals came on the power play. The Kings are coming off a 3-2 loss Saturday night in Winnipeg.
