>>Analyst says Trump Presidential Campaign Devoting Fewer Resources to Minnesota

(St. Paul, MN) —  Some political analysts say it appears the Trump presidential campaign is devoting fewer resources to Minnesota.  Hamline University Professor David Schultz says most polls show former President Donald Trump trailing Vice President Kamala Harris by five points in the state.   He says, “probably at this point it’s not in the gameplan for Trump to come here because for every minute he spends here and every dollar he spends here, it’s a dollar and minute he can’t spend elsewhere.”  Schultz says he won’t rule out a visit by Trump just before the election.   Republican V-P candidate J-D Vance was at a private fundraiser Monday in the Twin Cities.

(Minneapolis, MN) — “A city in decline,” Republican vice-presidential candidate J-D Vance said about Minneapolis during a brief campaign stop Monday.  Outside the burned-out Third Precinct police station, Vance blasted Democratic V-P rival, Governor Tim Walz’s handling of the 2020 riots, warning the story of Minneapolis “overrun with crime” is coming to every community across the U-S if Kamala Harris becomes president.  Democrats respond violent crime decreased in Minneapolis the past two years.

 

>>Jury Selection in Fravel Murder Trial Close to Completion

(Mankato, MN) — Blue Earth County court officials say 13 jurors have been selected for the Adam Fravel murder trial in Mankato and they still need four more alternates.  Jury selection is expected to wrap up this afternoon (Tues).  Opening statements by the prosecution and defense are tentatively set for Thursday.  Fravel is facing first- and second-degree murder charges in connection with the disappearance and death of Madeline Kingsbury of Winona last year.  Maddie was his ex-girlfriend and father of their two children.  The trial was moved from Winona County due to pre-trial publicity.

 

>>13-Year-Old Boy Dies at St. Augusta Haunted Hayride

(St. Augusta, MN) — A 13-year-old boy is the victim of deadly accident at a haunted hayride in St. Augusta.  Stearns County sheriff’s deputies were called to the annual Harvest of Horror Haunted Hayride Saturday night near St. Cloud.  Officials say Alexander Mick of Rice was run over by a trolley wagon and dragged by a tractor.  Despite immediate life-saving aid, Mick died at the scene.  The incident is still under investigation.

 

>>New Brighton Man Guilty of 2023 Fatal Road Rage Shooting in Minneapolis

(Minneapolis, MN) — A New Brighton man will be sentenced November 5th for a fatal road rage shooting last November in Minneapolis.  Prosecutors say 25-year-old Dhaha Hassan was found guilty of second-degree murder without intent and possessing a ghost gun last Thursday.  Officials say Hassan was driving the wrong way on a ramp, and when 34-year-old Randy Burris, got out of his vehicle to confront him, they began to argue.  Police say Hassan then stepped out of his vehicle and shot Burris multiple times.  Hassan claimed he shot Burris in self-defense.

 

>>Minnesota DPS Launches Public DWI Dashboard

(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Department of Public Safety launched a new version of its Driving While Impaired Dashboard, making it available to the public for the first time.  The online tool allows users to search for information statewide and locally about crashes and arrests related to drunken driving.  Results can be filtered by age, alcohol concentration, incident day, time, and more.  The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) first created the D-W-I dashboard in 2016 to help law enforcement identify trends in impaired driving crashes and arrests.

 

>>MnDOT Prescribed Burns on Hwy 14 from Janesville to Waseca

(Undated) — MnDOT will be conducting prescribed burns today (Tues) from Janesville to Waseca (WAH-see-CUH) on Highway 14 in south central Minnesota.  Officials say says drivers should expect lane closures and to see smoke.  MnDOT is ask drivers to slow down and watch for burn crews on or near roads.  Crews will burn native prairie vegetation to provide safer clear zones, stabilize soil, and treat stormwater runoff.

 

>>Anoka Teacher Wins Another World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off

(Half Moon Bay, CA) — Another title at the 51st annual World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off for Travis Gienger from Anoka, Minnesota.  Gienger’s winning gourd named “Rudy” came in at 2,471 pounds Monday at the Half Moon Bay event in northern California.  He set the world record last year with a 2,749 pound pumpkin dubbed “Michael Jordan.”  Forty-four-year-old Gienger teaches horticulture at Anoka Technical College and his hometown is known as the Halloween Capital of the World.

 

>>Gophers’ Freshman Safety Perich Named Big Ten Defensive Player of Week

(Minneapolis, MN) — University of Minnesota safety Koi Perich  is being honored as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.  The freshman from Esko had two interceptions in the Golden Gophers’ 21-17 win over U-C-L-A Saturday at the Rose Bowl.  It was the second straight week that Perich sealed a Minnesota victory with a pick late in the fourth quarter.  His four interceptions this season leads the U of M defense.  Perich is also returning some kicks for the Gophers.
