>>Tribal-State Compact Allows Prairie Island to Provide Cannabis to Licensed Retailers

(St. Paul, MN) — A third Minnesota Tribal nation will be selling its cannabis to state-licensed businesses beginning in November.  A new Tribal-state cannabis compact authorizes the Prairie Island Indian Community to boost the supply of adult-use product.  Tribal Council President Grant Johnson said, “we’re excited to continue meeting demand in Minnesota’s growing recreational cannabis market with the exceptional cannabis products we are producing.”  Most growers just received their state licenses and haven’t harvested a first crop.  The White Earth Nation and Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe also have compacts with the state.

 

>>AG Ellison Files Lawsuit Against Trump for Defunding Planned Parenthood

(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota is joining 21 states in a lawsuit against the Trump Administration in support of Planned Parenthood.  The suit accuses the administration of unlawful and unconstitutional efforts to defund its health centers.  Attorney General Keith Ellison’s office says Planned Parenthood receives $9 million dollars in Medicaid reimbursements for 35,000 patient visits a year.  These include for essential health care like cancer screenings and birth control.  Estimates show that losing these payments could result in ten health centers closing in Minnesota.

 

>>Support for Haley Could Haunt Robbins’ GOP Campaign for Governor

(St. Paul, MN) — Some political analysts say Representative Kristin Robbins of Maple Grove is going to have a hard time getting the Republican endorsement for governor.  Retired Carleton College Professor Steve Schier says Robbins chaired the Nikki Haley presidential campaign in Minnesota last year.  He says, “the activists in the Republican Party of Minnesota are Trump supporters and they will not look kindly upon someone who was opposing Trump for renomination in 2024.”  Schier says Robbins’ supporters think she could help secure G-O-P and female votes in the suburbs.  Former state Senator Scott Jensen and Kendall Qualls are also seeking the Republican nomination for governor.

 

>>Pro-Palestine Rally Planned Amid SBI Meeting Shift

(St. Paul, MN) — Advocates for divestment from Israel are rallying this morning (Tues ) outside as the State Board of Investment (SBI) holds its quarterly meeting virtually.  Organizers say the format change limits public input on calls to divest Minnesota pension funds from companies tied to Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.  The S-B-I hasn’t met in-person since March.  Today’s agenda includes a revised public engagement policy.

 

>>Suspect Arrested After Firebombs Target Minneapolis Ice Cream Shop

(Minneapolis, MN) — A suspect is in custody after firebombs were thrown at a Minneapolis ice cream shop twice in less than 15 hours.  Fletcher’s Ice Cream and Cafe was hit around 10:45 p.m. Sunday and again at 1 p.m. Monday, causing damage but no injuries.  Owner Jason Fletcher suspects the attacks may be tied to a Pride flag displayed on the building.  Police say the same person is believed responsible for both incidents.  The ice cream shop plans to reopen today (Tues).

 

>>Minnesota DNR Asks Hunters to Share Wildlife Observations

(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is inviting hunters to share their wildlife observations.  Minnesota deer hunters can visit the D-N-R’s website and use the online field log to report wildlife they see while hunting.  D-N-R officials use that information to supplement its model-generated population estimates, which are important tools for managing wildlife.  You can use a mobile device or desktop computer to enter information on the D-N-R website about wildlife they see while in the field, including deer, turkey, bear, fish and other species.

 

>>Minnesota Millionaire Raffle Tickets on Sale Tuesday

(Roseville, MN) — Minnesota Millionaire Raffle tickets go on sale today (Tues) and they’re expected to sell out in about two weeks.  Minnesota Lottery Director Adam Prock says there are one million raffle tickets for the 20th anniversary this year.  He says, “there’s 20 thousand prizes including forty 20-thousand-dollar prizes and a whole bunch of other prizes, along with those two million-dollar prizes. It’s one of your best chances to win a million bucks.”  Tickets sold out in 15 days last year.  The winning numbers will be drawn on New Year’s Day.

 

>>Vikings Condemn Racist Messages Sent to DB Rodgers After Loss

(Eagan, MN) — Minnesota Vikings officials are speaking out after defensive back Isaiah Rodgers received racist messages on social media following Sunday’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.  Rodgers posted about the harassment saying, “Racism is real. Keep football, football.”  The team also responded, calling the slurs “disgusting” and saying there’s no room for racism in sports or society.  The Vikings are 3-and-3 after the 28-22 home loss to Philadelphia.

 

>>Minnesota Wild Skate Past Rangers at Madison Square Garden

(New York, NY) — The Minnesota Wild snapped a three-game skid with a 3-1 win over the New York Rangers Monday night at Madison Square Garden.  Danila Yurov scored his first career goal in the third period, and it was the eventual game-winner for Minnesota.  Jonas Brodin lit the lamp in the first and Kirill Kaprizov added an empty-netter.  Goaltender Filip Gustavsson made 24 saves for the victory.  The Wild wrap up this road trip Wednesday night at the New Jersey Devils.
