Minnesota’s governor flies into Green Bay this morning and appears at a political event in Manitowoc around 10:30. Walz heads to Milwaukee early this afternoon and is participating in a gathering in Waukesha. He’s scheduled to be Michigan with Vice President Kamala Harris tonight (Mon 6:45pm) for a “When We Vote We Win’ rally and concert in Ann Arbor. Republican vice presidential nominee J-D Vance is campaigning today in Racine, Wisconsin, and former President Donald Trump will be in the Green Bay area Wednesday for a rally with ex-Packers quarterback Brett Favre.
>>Klobuchar and White Face off in US Senate Debate
(Minneapolis, MN) — Senator Amy Klobuchar is accusing Republican challenger Royce White of insulting our veterans and the military. During a U-S Senate debate Sunday on W-C-C-O radio, she quoted White as saying, “the bad guys won in World War Two, “and “there were no good guys in World War Two.” White responded, ” definitively they were bad guys in my opinion. Not only that but we did incorporate Nazi scientists into our military and our academic institutions after World War Two. So those were bad guys as well. I didn’t say that there were no good guys. I said the bad guys won, and they did.” Klobuchar fire back, “You tell that to Earl Meyer who served both in the Korean War and in World War Two. He just got the Purple Heart. He has the shrapnel in his leg to show it. And I think when you look at the U-S and step back, this is not the kind of rhetoric that we need.” Klobuchar called for a cease fire in Gaza and a two-state solution in Palestine. White said the U-S is on both sides of Israel’s war in the Middle East and the War in Ukraine.
>>Itasca County Woman Accused of Trying to Vote for Dead Mother
(Grand Rapids, MN) — A woman from Itasca County is accused of trying to vote for her dead mother in the November election. Prosecutors say 40-year-old Danielle Miller of rural Nashwauk is charged with three felonies. The Itasca County Auditor’s Office says it received signed ballots from Miller and her mother, Rose Javorina, on October 7th, but Javorina died on August 31st before ballots could be filled out. The criminal complaint says Miller admitted her mother was avid Donald Trump supporter and wanted to vote for Trump in the November election. The fraudulent ballot was flagged by election workers before it could be counted.
>>2 Men Killed, Woman Wounded in Minneapolis Homeless Encampment Shooting
(Minneapolis, MN) — Police are investigating a shooting Sunday at a homeless encampment in south Minneapolis that left two men dead and a woman in critical condition. Officers found the three victims wounded along railroad tracks near Hiawatha Avenue and tried to save the two men, but they died at the scene. Three men were detained for questioning but later released. There was also a fatal shooting at another homeless encampment Saturday. Police Chief Brian O’Hara said in a statement, ” The cold-blooded killing of three people inside the tent of an encampment is outrageous.” No arrests have been reported.
>>2 People Seriously Injured in Rollover Crash near Alexandria
(Alexandria, MN) — Two people are seriously injured after a one-vehicle crash Sunday evening northwest of Alexandria in west central Minnesota. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says the vehicle left a county road in Lund Township, rolled several times, and the driver had to be extricated. Both occupants were taken to an Alexandria hospital with serious injuries. Deputies say the driver was later airlifted to a trauma center in critical condition.
>>South Haven Woman Killed in Rear-End Crash on I-94 After Hitting Deer
(Dayton, MN) — The Minnesota State Patrol says a deer is blamed for a crash Sunday morning on Interstate 94 near Dayton that left a South Haven woman dead. The report says 60-year-old Julie Terway hit a deer and was stopped in the center lane of I-94 when her S-U-V was rear-ended by another car. State troopers say Terway died at the scene. The other driver was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Alcohol was not involved in the crash.
>>Busy First 3 Weeks for The Dam Store in New Mankato Location
(Mankato, MN) — Owners of The Dam Store say they’re settling into their new location in downtown Mankato following a busy first three weeks. David Hruska says, “this is nice here. It’s been working out really well for us. And Mankato, the community has really taken us in.” He says there were long lines the first couple weeks and their regular customers are starting to come in. The Dam Store was demolished after the partial collapse of the Rapidan Dam in June which caused their family home to fall into the Blue Earth River. Hruska says the long-term goal is to re-open the iconic diner at the old site.
