The Democrats’ vice presidential pick is appearing on the morning T-V new shows “Good Morning America” and “C-B-S Mornings.” Walz heads to Charlotte for a political event early this afternoon and will speak at a campaign rally tonight in Ashville, North Carolina. Walz travels to New Jersey late tonight. Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are campaigning today in neighboring Wisconsin.

(St. Paul, MN) — The final K-S-T-P/Survey U-S-A poll before the election shows Vice President Kamala Harris with an eight-point lead over former President Donald Trump in Minnesota. Fifty-one percent of respondents support Harris while 43 percent back Trump. Three percent are undecided, and two percent prefer another candidate. The survey indicates Harris and Trump are now tied at 48 percent among men and the vice president is up 16 points with women. Trump enjoys a 23-percent lead in rural areas of Minnesota and Harris is way ahead in the urban areas and has a 13-point advantage in the suburbs.

(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Supreme Court is ordering Hennepin County to appoint election judges to its absentee ballot board from the Republican Party’s list of candidates. The state G-O-P, Upper Midwest Law Center and Minnesota Voters Alliance filed a petition after none of the five appointments to the board were on Republicans’ list of 15 hundred names. The Upper Midwest Law Center says Hennepin County must reconstitute its absentee ballot board by Friday (11/1). Republican Party Chair David Hann called it, “a huge win for election integrity in Minnesota.” More than 263 thousand absentee ballots have been received by the county.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The man shot by police in St. Paul Monday night is also a suspect in a shooting at a Minneapolis homeless encampment that left two men dead and a woman in critical condition. Ramsey County prosecutors are charging 40-year-old Earl Bennett with ineligible possession of a firearm and second-degree assault in the police shooting. Investigators said Bennett was walking in the Midway area with a gun and was shot by officers after pointing his weapon at them. Bennett was hospitalized Tuesday in critical but stable condition. He’s accused of the triple shooting the day before (Sun) at the homeless camp in south Minneapolis.

(Fergus Falls, MN) — Two brothers from Fergus Falls are facing felony assault with a dangerous weapon charges for an alleged attack on two victims over the weekend. The victims told police that 46-year-old Eric Jacobson and 47-year-old Olaf Jacobson came at them Saturday with a knife as they were sitting in a pickup. The brothers reportedly grabbed a metal bat and Eric lunged at one the victims and continued to advance at another victim. Officers say they had to use a Taser to arrest Olaf because he resisted when they tried to put him in handcuffs. Eric was taken into custody without incident. Investigators say a knife and bat were found in their apartment.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The T-S-A is installing nine new C-T scanners at security checkpoints inside Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. Regional spokesperson Jessica Mayle says most people think of medical when they hear C-T scanner and it’s the same idea. She says officers get a better look inside a passenger’s bag with 3-D images instead of the 2-D x-ray images. It’s expected to result in fewer bag checks and passengers no longer need to remove their laptop computers or liquids. The installation process is expected to be completed in early December.

(Chanhassen, MN) — Tuesday will likely go down as the last summer-like day of the year in Minnesota. Tyler Hasenstein of the National Weather Service says the Twin Cities and Mankato set record-highs. He says the hottest temps were 81 degrees in Eden Prairie, Faribault, St, James, Owatonna, and New Ulm. Hasenstein says high temps are going to fall more than 35 degrees from Tuesday afternoon to Thursday morning. He’s expecting precipitation and temperatures in the 30s and 40s in Minnesota for trick-or-treating on Halloween.
