>>9/11 Observances and Events Across Minnesota on Thursday

(Undated) — Activities and events across Minnesota today (Thurs) commemorate the anniversary of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks.  There is a 9/11 remembrance this morning in Alexandria where nearly three thousand flags have been placed to honor the victims.  The City of St. Cloud is hosting a “Day of Remembrance 9/11” ceremony at 5pm to remember the lives lost.  The Proctor V-F-W Post 137 is holding a 9/11 24th anniversary observance this evening (Thurs 6pm).  And Fort Snelling National Cemetery is hosting a “Patriot Day” headstone cleaning and beautification event.

 

>>Governor Orders Flags at Half-Staff for 9/11 Remembrance

(St. Paul, MN) – Governor Tim Walz is ordering all U-S and Minnesota flags fly at half-staff today (Thurs) in honor of the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.  Walz says in his order, “On September 11th, thousands of innocent lives were lost in an unthinkable tragedy that profoundly changed our nation.”  Flags are currently lowered in honor of the lives lost at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis.  Flags will remain at half-staff through Sunday.

 

>>Governor Walz Indicates He’s Leaning Toward Running for Re-Election

(Inver Grove Heights, MN) — Governor Tim Walz says he plans to make an official announcement on whether he’ll seek a third term in the next few days.  He was quizzed about his re-election during an event Wednesday at an elementary school in Inver Grove Heights.  Walz told reporters, “It’s a safe assumption” that he’s learning towards running for re-election but hasn’t made a final decision. The governor said he plans to talk about it with his family this weekend.

 

>>Walz Signs Cannabis Compact with Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe

(St. Paul, MN) — Governor Tim Walz has signed a second Tribal-state cannabis compact, this time with the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe.  The agreement outlines cooperation under state statute between the Tribal Nation and local licensed businesses in the state’s emerging adult-use cannabis market.  Office of Cannabis Management officials say the compact promotes public health, safety, and economic development.  The Mille Lacs Band joins the White Earth Nation in formalizing marijuana supply partnerships with the state.

 

>>Hoffman Family Condemns Shooting of Political Activist in Utah

(Champlin, MN) — Politicians in Minnesota are condemning the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at a rally in Utah.  Senator John Hoffman and his family said in a statement, “the assassination of Charlie Kirk today is only the latest act that our country cannot continue to accept. “  They also said leaders of both parties must not only tone down their own rhetoric, but they must begin to call out extreme, aggressive and violent dialog that foments these attacks on our republic and freedom.  Kirk was scheduled to speak September 22nd at the University of Minnesota.  Hoffman and his wife were shot June 14th by the alleged gunman who assassinated House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband.

 

>>45 Months in Prison for Woman Who Bought Guns in Burnsville Shooting

(St. Paul, MN) — The woman who bought the guns used in the killings of three Burnsville first responders will spend nearly four years in federal prison.  Thirty-six-year-old Ashley Dyrdahl received a 45-month sentence Wednesday after pleading guilty to two counts of straw purchasing.  She admitted to buying guns that her boyfriend, Shannon Gooden, used in the fatal shootings of Officers Paul Elmstrand, Matthew Ruge, and Firefighter/paramedic Adam Finseth.  Dyrdahl apologized during the sentence hearing.

 

>>Congressman Finstad Calls for Passage of Skinny Farm Bill

(Washington, DC) — A Republican member of the U-S House Agriculture Committee says passing a skinny farm bill before the end of the year is a priority.  Minnesota Congressman Brad Finstad says, “we accomplished quite a bit in the reconciliation bill, but there is still around 30 percent that has to be done.”   Finstad says they want to make sure that states like California don’t dictate the gestation pens in our farms in Iowa and Minnesota.  He says a new farm bill should also modernize the Conservation Reserve Program to create a more even playing field for young farmers to gain access to land.

 

>>Minnesota Lynx Host Valkyries on Fan Appreciation Night

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Lynx play their last regular season game tonight (Thurs 7pm) against the Golden State Valkyries in downtown Minneapolis.  The Lynx are coming off an 83-72 loss at the Indiana Fever on Tuesday.  M-V-P candidate Napheesa Collier was given the night off to rest.  Minnesota has already clinched the one-seed in the W-N-B-A playoffs with a 33-10 record.  Golden State is fourth in the Western Conference at 23-20.  This is fan appreciation night and everyone at Target Center will receive a Lynx poster and a pink wig.
