>>Harris-Walz Leads Trump-Vance by 5 Points in New Minnesota Poll

(Minneapolis, MN) — A new survey of likely Minnesota voters gives Vice President Kamala Harris a single-digit lead over former President Donald Trump.  The Star Tribune/M-P-R/KARE 11 Poll shows the Harris-Walz campaign with 48-percent support and the Trump-Vance ticket at 43 percent.  Seven percent are undecided and less than two percent say they plan to vote for a third-party candidate.  The respondents favor Trump when it comes to the economy and the border while voters said they trust Harris on abortion rights and protecting democracy.

 

>>Vance Preparing for Walz VP Debate with Minnesota Congressman Emmer

(Cincinnati, OH) — Minnesota Congressman Tom Emmer is reportedly helping Republican Senator J-D Vance prepare for his upcoming debate against Governor Tim Walz.  Emmer is being used as a stand-in for Walz ahead of the October 1st vice presidential debate in New York.  A-B-C News reports Emmer was picked to help Vance counter the Minnesota governor’s “folksy personality.”  Walz is practicing his debate skills with U-S Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

 

>>Apple Valley Man Draws 10-Year Sentence for Fatally Shooting Ex-Girlfriend

(Hastings, MN) — A man from Apple Valley is sentenced to ten years in prison for the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend in June of 2022.  Dakota County prosecutors say 41-year-old Willie Selmon II received a 120-month sentence for the second-degree murder of 49-year-old Michelle McGill, which is a downward departure from state guidelines.  Police said Selmon and McGill’s son, Billy Pryor Junior, were shooting at each other and McGill was caught in the crossfire.  She suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene.  Pryor’s next court hearing is in March.

 

>>Coon Rapids Man Fatally Shot in Brooklyn Park, Suspect Arrested

(Brooklyn Park, MN) — A Coon Rapids man is dead, and a suspect is in custody following a shooting in Brooklyn Park . Police found a victim with gunshot wounds to his abdomen Saturday night and he was taken to the hospital.  Officers say 34-year-old Nichanon Kittikroekphon died Monday.  Investigators say it happened at a family gathering and the suspect shot the victim several times at close range.  He was tackled by family members until authorities arrived.

 

>>Search Continues for Missing Winona Man in Yellowstone National Park

(Yellowstone, WY) — Authorities are searching a remote area of Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming for a missing man from Minnesota.  The National Park Service says 22-year-old Austin King of Winona was last heard from Tuesday September 17th when he called friends and family from the summit of Eagle Peak.  Officials say King is a Yellowstone campground employee and failed to arrive for his boat pickup Friday afternoon following a seven-day backcountry trip.  Search crews found King’s camp on Saturday evening.

 

>>Former Schwan’s Home Delivery Ending Services in November

(Bloomington, MN) — The company formerly known as Schwan’s home delivery is closing in November following a 72-year run of its refrigerated trucks.  Yelloh brand say 176 employees in Minnesota will be laid off November 22nd. Yelloh has facilities in Bloomington, Eagan, Maple Grove, Marshall, Sauk Centre, Truman, and Zumbrota.  Schwan’s was founded in Marshall, Minnesota in 1952.  Officials said in a statement that digital shopping has replaced the personal, at-the-door customer interaction that was the hallmark of the company.

 

>>Minnesota Twins Open Final Homestand of Regular Season

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Twins open the final homestand of the season tonight (Tues 6:40pm) against the Miami Marlins.  The 81-and-75 Twins trail the Tigers and Royals by one game for the final American League Wild Card spot.  Bailer Ober gets the start for Minnesota in the series opener.  The Baltimore Orioles wrap up the home schedule at Target Field this weekend.
