(St. Paul, MN) — Two Minnesota veterans will receive Purple Hearts today (WED 9 AM) for combat injuries suffered overseas. U.S. Senator Tina Smith and Minnesota National Guard Major General Shawn Manke (Main-Key) will present the medals to retired Lieutenant Colonel James Mosser of Cannon Falls and retired Sergeant First Class Amity “Joy” Marver of Burnsville. Mosser was injured in an IED blast in Afghanistan in 2009. Marver suffered concussive injuries in separate attacks in Iraq in 2007 and 2020 and will receive a Purple Heart with a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster.

(St. Paul, MN) — Warmer-than-normal temperatures are helping Minnesota crops move toward harvest. The latest USDA report shows 95 percent of the state’s corn crop has reached the dough stage, 68 percent is dented, and nine percent is mature. Corn is rated 62 percent good to excellent. Soybeans are 97 percent setting pods, with 10 percent dropping leaves. Fifty-seven percent of the soybean crop is rated good to excellent. Minnesota’s oat harvest is 95 percent complete.
