>>Moment of Silence on US House Floor for Annunciation Shooting Victims

(Washington, DC) — Minnesota’s delegation led a moment of silence on the U-S House floor Tuesday evening for the victims of the mass school shooting in Minneapolis.  Congresswoman Ilhan Omar paid tribute to Fletcher Merkel and Harper Moyski.  She told members, “Today we honor two beautiful souls, eight year and ten year olds lost their lives to senseless gun violence at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis last week. My heart is shattered for all the families impacted by this horrific tragedy.”  Omar said we must stand united to prevent another tragedy from occurring ever again.  She was joined by all of Minnesota’s U-S representatives.

 

>>VP Vance to Pay Respects to Victims of Annunciation Shooting in Minneapolis

(Minneapolis, MN) — Vice President J-D Vance is scheduled to be in Minnesota today (Wed) to pay respects to the victims of the Annunciation Catholic School shooting.  His office says the vice president and Second Lady Usha Vance are holding a series of private meetings to convey condolences to the families of those affected by the tragedy.  Investigators say two children were killed and 21 others were wounded in the mass shooting one week ago in south Minneapolis.

 

>>Student Arrested for Bringing Gun to St. Paul Johnson High School

(St. Paul, MN) — Police in St. Paul say a student was arrested Tuesday for bringing a gun to Johnson High School.  School staff had apprehended the student and secured the weapon by the time officers got there.  Officials say the student was booked in juvenile detention for suspicion of gun possession.  Johnson Principal Jamil Payton sent a message to families saying, “I understand this news can be extremely upsetting, especially on the first day of school. At the same time, I want to call out that our safety protocols worked as intended.”

 

>>AG Ellison Praises Upheld Tariff Ruling in Federal Court

(St. Paul, MN) — Attorney General Keith Ellison celebrates an upheld ruling from the Court of International Trade that reciprocal tariffs on other countries are unlawful.  President Donald Trump installed tariffs on multiple countries, with separate, higher tariffs for Mexico, Canada, and China.  The court agreed to invalidate the tariffs but canceled the order to tell the government to stop collecting them.  Ultimately, it asked the lower court to review the order again.

 

>>Office of Traffic Safety Reminds Drivers to Be Aware of School Buses

(St. Paul, MN) — The new school year is here, and Office of Traffic Safety Director Mike Hanson is reminding drivers to be conscious and aware of school buses.  He says buses are all over the place again and motorists need to pay attention to what they’re doing.  Hanson says drivers are required to stop at least 20 feet from a school bus displaying red flashing lights or a stop arm.  Those who attempt to pass a school bus could be found guilty of a gross misdemeanor and subjected to more serious penalties.

 

>>Man Shot, Killed at Minneapolis Transit Hub

(Minneapolis, MN) — Minneapolis Police are on a manhunt for the gunman that killed a man at a transit hub.  Officers found a 32-year-old man dead from gunshot wounds inside the Chicago and Lake Transit Center.  Investigators say the two fought inside the bus shelter before there was gunfire and the shooter fled on foot.  Police Chief Brian O’Hara says, “We hear and we share the community’s frustration and grief, and we are committed to doing everything we possibly can to make Minneapolis safer for everyone.”

 

>>Suspect Arrested in Moorhead Stabbing

(Moorhead, MN) — A Moorhead man is in the Clay County Jail for assault after a stabbing in Moorhead Tuesday morning.  The suspect, 37-year-old Joshua Carney, had run from the scene.  He was caught by responding officers.  Carney and the victim are known to each other.  The victim suffered what police say was a serious stab wound and was taken to a Fargo hospital.

 

>>Preliminary Total of 54 Tornadoes in Minnesota this Summer

(St. Paul, MN) — A “pretty active” severe weather season is winding down in Minnesota.  Assistant State Climatologist Pete Boulay says the preliminary total shows 54 tornadoes across the state this summer.  He says all of them were of the weaker variety and no strong, destructive tornadoes were reported.  The biggest storm was the June blowdown in the Bemidji area that took out millions of trees.  Boulay says the summer of 2025 will be remembered for above normal temperatures and precipitation, and the Canadian wildfire smoke.

 

>>2005 Minnesota State Fair Attendance Tops 1.94 Million

(St. Paul, MN) — The final numbers are in for the Minnesota State Fair and it was another successful 12-day run.  The attendance totaled 1,940,869, making it the fifth largest Minnesota State Fair in history.  The final day on Labor Day brought in more than 150,000 fairgoers.  C-E-O Renee Alexander said, “Over the 12 days, the weather created a beautiful backdrop for people to share traditions, discover new favorites and celebrate the spirit of our state.”  Another big number: the agricultural and creative competitions drew more than 35,000 entries this year.

 

>>White Sox Rout Twins at Target Field

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Chicago White Sox crushed the Minnesota Twins 12-3 Tuesday night at Target Field.  Twins starter Simeon Woods Richardson allowed two earned runs and struck out seven over five innings for a no-decision.  Reliever Thomas Hatch gave up five runs in two innings to take the loss.  Zebby Matthews starts game three of the four-game series tonight (Wed) in downtown Minneapolis.
