>>A Moorhead man who Clay County prosecutors say tortured and killed three cats has pleaded not guilty. Twenty-three-year-old Jalan Greer is charged with three counts of felony mistreatment and torture of animals. A trial has been scheduled for July 25. Court documents say police were called to Greer’s Moorhead apartment in January on a report of a cat “fighting for its life.” police found a dead cat on the kitchen floor with blood coming out of its mouth and ears. The complaint says Greer also told police about two other cats that died in his care. Greer’s attorney, Christopher Cadem, says because of the unusual nature of the case, he plans to prepare a questionnaire for potential jurors. Cadem expects the trial to take about three days.
