Mother charged in shooting death of 6-yr-old son found in car trunk

May 23, 2022 By Scott Peterson

The mother of a six-year-old boy found dead in the trunk of a car in Orono has been charged with murder. 28-year-old Julissa Thaler was arrested Friday. Police had responded to a call of a vehicle driving on a tire rim with the back window smashed out. When officers searched the vehicle before towing it, they found the body of a boy, later identified as Eli Hart, and a shotgun inside the trunk. Thaler was arrested near her apartment a short time later. A preliminary autopsy found that Hart was shot multiple times–possibly as many as nine times.
