Mpls Police Chief Janee Harteau
Minneapolis Police Chief Janee Harteau repeated today that public safety is her department’s number one priority — that after comments from black community members on the decision *not* to prosecute the officers involved in the fatal police shooting of Jamar Clark. One woman told Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman, “Today you pushed propanganda and, let me tell you, if the city burns it’s on your hands.” Chief Harteau responds they have contingency plans in place “for a multitude of scenarios.” Harteau adds, “We are working closely with our community leaders and organizers to ensure that we don’t get to that level.” Protests are planned tonight in north Minneapolis and near downtown.
